jmet
I was seriously thinking about taking the one stick of Compaq 512MB and swapping it with the Corsair in my moms.
Grain
Bot 4 sticks of memory about 6 months ago, all Kingston, and 1 stick was from a different manufactoring batch, caused a MB/Bios error thinking the CPU was overclocked. Scarred the shite out of me when the MB's audible warning called out the error, in some womans voice no less. Strict old gal.
jmet
I was just looking at the sticks I pulled out, whats the difference between DDR 333 & DDR 400? Â (Thinking to myself "That might be the compatibility problem?) Â The DDR 333 stick was the 128MB stick that came out of the DELL. Â The DDR 400 stick was the 512MB stick that came out of the Compaq. Edited February 8, 2006 by jmet
Grain
mhz, with 400 being a little faster, how they measure SDRAM memory speed. I know if your trying to run dual channel they have to match, and certain MB's do need the same speed memory to operate.
polopony
I believe the larger stick the 512 also goes into the #1 memory slot ,from memory I think I read that it makes a difference where they go

Grain
Haven't checked your MB specs closely JMet, I know my Asus K8V requires you to use slots 1 & 3(blue) if using 2 sticks, and you can't have 3 sticks. 1, 2 or 4. I upgraded to 2GB, 4X 512mb 3200 400mhz, unfortunately didn't really notice any difference when going from 1GB to 2GB, big dif. in 512 to 1Gb though.
