ISO BURNING ON DUAL LAYER

Hello. I have a problem burning a downloaded ISO file to a DVD+R DL. The ISO it'a a movie and it is about 7.2 Gb. I have ASUS DRW-2014L1T and I used MAXELL DVD+R DL 2.4X. I used nero 7 and I got 2 errors (i could not set the speed lower than 4 x) : "could not perform end of DAO" and "Power calibration error". I inserted back the DVD and it didn't play automatically in windows (as it usually does when i insert a DVD movie). I managed to open it with media player but I could only play 12 chapters out of 16. I took out the DVD and put it back (still no autoplay) and it worked fine (all 16 chapters) But when I inserted the DVD in another PC, it looked as the media was empty. Then I inserted the DVD in my DVD Player ( a samsung) and it played aroud 50 minutes and then it froze.

I installed ImgBurn and I tried to write another movie ISO file (about 5.2 Gb). I used the same media. I set the speed to 2.4X. I left the layer brake to auto. At the end I got 2 errors: could not perform end of DAO -or something like that (the session could not be closed) and cache syncronization error (though this last error occured when i burned a single layer dvd rw and it worked fine).Anyways, i inserted the dvd back, no auto play but media player played it ok with no problem from the begining to the end. My other PC saw it as a blank media and the samsung DVD player froze after 50 minutes or so.

I need you to help me and tell me what to do to write this images with no problem because I want them played on a DVD PLAYER, not the PC.

Welcome to the ImgBurn support Forum

 

although we will help you as best we can, unfortunately, a nero log file is about as much use as a very used piece of toilet paper to us or even a chocolate watch on a sunny day ! . As we all use ImgBurn, none of us would be able to tell you what went wrong form the Nero log file.

 

We can all guess for hours as to whats wrong , but instead of wasting your time and ours , Its best you post a log file of an ImgBurn session Like what the pink banenr at the top of this page suggests .

There is a later firmware for that writer to install. You now have ver 1.00

SORRY. I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I UPDATED THE FIRMWARE TO VERSION 1.02 BEFORE BURNING THE SECOND DISK WITH IMG BURN. I THINK THAT MY PROBLEM CONCERNS THE BURNING OF THE SECOND LAYER. AND I'M VERY SORRY BUT I DIDN'T SAVE THE IMGBURN LOG. ALL I HAVE IS THE NERO LOG.

It wouldn't take much to compress that to fit onto a single layer disc. You'll save some money on media and won't be giving up much, if any, quality.

 

This is where you decide which bit of the film should be the first bit after the layer jump (where the player may pause for a second as the laser moves from layer 1 to layer 2).

 

You might get one option here or you could get several. If there's only one, it's obvious which one you need to select! If there's more than one, select the one with the best rating - look at the stars!

Ok. But what about the 7.71 GB ISO? Anyways, I started this topid because I want to learn how to properly burn images on dual layer, not single layer. And I ask again: layer break -user specified or "calculate optimal"? because I read somewhere that for XBOX the layer break sectors shold be 1913760 (sa that the XBOX can read the DVD). Maybe for video files there is another value. Can anyone tell me what the value is? Did anyone burned a 7 GB movie on a dual layer with no problem? Did the DVD PLAYER read the DVD from begining to end? this is what I'm looking for, not compressing the files to a single layer. I have a image, i want it on a single DVD. Like I do with my other movies which I burn on the single layer DVD. Thank You

You are choosing the MDS file to burn from, which you should, and it (should) contains the proper layer break information.

I don't get "a jump" in the movie. The movie frezees.Period. If I select a scene in the menu which is on the second layer, it doesn't play it.
