TheDarkStranger2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 I tried burning a DVD on HP Invent disk DVD+R 8x 4.7 gig disk. I have just installed Windows 7 RTM and imgburn 2.5.0.0. Wasted 3 DVD's so far because of this error. Sounds as your burner doesn't like the (media code) Disc ID: CMC MAG-E01-00 code very well. Have you tried another burn speed such as 4x? A cleaning disc could perhaps help. Other than that, I suggest you try with another brand of discs/media code. I ran Windows 7 RC with ImgBurn 2.4.4.0 before and I didnt have to set the speeds and I used the same disc type. I find it odd that a more recent version of Windows and more recent version of imgburn would cause problems. Do you know about any disc cleaning apps? I might have to give it a try with a different brand and speed as you say. I just think its some kind of driver issue or something. Waiting to see if anybody else has it working with Win7 RTM. Posted September 28, 2009 Share Posted September 28, 2009 Don't look at 'brands', you need to look at the dye the discs use - or you could end up just buying CMC again only under a different name. Buy from an online store that lists the dye/MID or make sure you buy Verbatims from a retail store (because Verbatim always use the good dyes/MIDs). I havnt liked either of your responses. I'm going to try the old imgburn software, maybe some new bug was introduced in the new one because i didnt have to worry about speeds or types of discs or dyes. If that dont work Ill try another burning software... and if THAT dont work. I'll try another kind of disc.. Virbatum as you suggested.. I only delay doing this because i have bunch of HP Invent DVD's left and a whole 50 pack of Sony DVD's So nobody else has this problem? or is using Windows 7 RTM ? mmalves Posted October 1, 2009 Share Posted October 1, 2009 The burn process relies on the burner/firmware/media combination: the software just feeds the data in the correct sequence, so using an older version of ImgBurn won't solve your problem. Have you tried a lens cleaning disc on your burner? It could be just dirt getting in the way. Also laptop burners aren't great at burning, so using high quality media plays a big part. By the way I've been using Windows 7 since before RC1 and ImgBurn never had any problems with it lens cleaning disc? where do i get that? should i just blow air into that area? burner should be okay i used it tons of times this month. firmware is the same as before its some MS old ass firmware. media was also the same as before. so im lost. yea imgburn worked with win7 rc, it did not work withthe final version WIN7 RTM. are you using that one? i guess i can try cleaning Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As for cleaning the burner there are some cleaning disc kits sold on CD/DVD stores, or you could manually cleaning the burner's lenses with a cotton bud and some alcohol. Wanted to see if this would make a difference. Then I was able to burn!! here's the log. makes no sense why it failed before. Maybe i had installed something? maybe i needed to restart?
