Hi there, can u help me, im getting frustrated with this image file as i try to burn it on verbatim dvd+r dl media

my dvd drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N with firmware RC04, my media is verbatim dvd+r dl MKM-003

i had a dvd9 video ISO id like to burn, the iso is not copyright protected (this is i'm sure). and i failed to burn it.

i managed to search this forum and find topic :

http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=11161

and find that the problem has solved by all means upgrading firmware...but id like u to take a look at my case,

and i really appreciate ur opinion.

My big question is...

does my dvd writer really need to upgrade from RC04 to RY05(i find it on firmwarehq) or do i have to find verbatim MKM-001?

i already trashed 4 verbatim dvd+r dl MKM-003, and that's expensive here. i dont want to lose another one.

i really need your confirmation.

oooh, and i attach the graph data too.

thank you in advance and imgburn is really great apps,

Burn faster.

Clean the drive.

Try some discs from a different spindle.

You know the rest... try MKM-001 or get a new drive.

Edit: Pipped at the post :P

thanks for your opinions...

but the reason i didn't burn faster than 2,4x is that i really wanted a quality result (descent burn quality)...that can survive for maybe another ten years? back in the old days when all i have is a cd writers with 48x write capability, all my disc burnt on 48x is now vanishing, means i can't

read them with all cd and dvd drive i currently own.

for cleaning the drive, well, just before and after that imgburn failed, i burnt my .avi collection using nero 9 to mistubishi dvd+r (single layer) and they succeeded. even just yesterday i burnt an iso to mitsubishi dvd+r single layer using imgburn and it suceeded.

is that proved enough that my lens is clear? i always clean my notebook once a week, my working environment is indoor IT office which is very2 clean

cause everyday office caretaker do clean my desk from dust. i never work and eat at the same time. so i guess it's not my lens. but i will clean my lens anyway, manually using cutton buds and alcohol?

and for trying some disc from another spindle, i will, but since it's expensive here (about 3US$ each, already lost 12$ though), therefore i really need confirmation, is my drive firmware really need that upgrade? and how will i know that a media i want to buy has MKM-001 dye since the only way to know is putting the disc into dvd drive and use imgburn to read the info about the media?

a new drive is not an opt.

thanks

Burning at the slowest speed doesn't necessarily result in a better quality burn, especially when using media rated for up to 8x write speed.

If your drive can't produce a good burn at the other available speeds your only options are trying to find the Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks or getting a new burner that likes the 8x Verbatim blanks you have.
