Unsupported format on BD-R DL

My very first BD-R DL burn.

Apart from not having the 1.11 firmware... I don't see anything wrong.

All burns previously done with v2.5.2.0 on 25GB Verbatim media work fine!

 

Source files play well from HDD using PowerDVD 11.

 

Plays when using "Open movie file from hard drive" BUT browsing to burnt BD-R.

 

I noticed disc ID is VERBAT-IMd-000 when using imgburn 2.5.5.0 but is VERBAT-IMd-00 when using imgburn 2.5.2.0

 

Haven't tried on any stand alone BD player yet.

 

Anyone has a clue?

If you eject the disc, load PowerDVD 11 and then insert the disc, does it try and play it?

 

Playing the raw m2ts files is not a fair test.

 

If you're having problem, create an ISO image rather than burning direct to disc. Then mount the ISO in your virtual drive and test it properly - again, NOT by playing the raw m2ts file. If it works fine, burn the ISO to disc.

 

Please do try the disc in a standalone, PowerDVD can show that 'unsupported' message for various reasons - sometimes without ever really trying to read the disc!

 

Make sure you're running the most recent version of Virtual CloneDrive - v5.4.5.0.

Did all kinds of sequences, even rebooted without disc inserted... PowerDVD just won't recognize it!

I didn't play the raw M2TS… I'm telling PowerDVD that the whole bluray is located on the bd-r instead of the HDD. So it sees a bluray structure and plays fine!

The disc DOES play on my Pioneer stand alone player…

I'm thinking maybe it has to do with the OS (win7 x64 Pro) handling the UDF 2.5 ???

Run the Cyberlink BD & 3D Advisor and select the 'Check for Blu-ray Disc Playback Support' button.

 

When I've seen this issue in the past (on my own PC no less) where it'll play BD content in anything other than 'disc' mode, the advisor has reported there are no 'Blu-ray Disc Drives' on the system - which of course was complete rubbish.

 

Some 3rd party apps can cause this problem - virtual drives etc. The DAEMON Tools virtual drive was behind my problem.

 

Do you have the most recent update for PowerDVD 11 installed? I seem to recall one came out last week.

I updated the firmware to 1.11 and burnt 2 more DL discs, they both play fine in PowerDVD 11.1719.51 (still the same version as before) so playback support is ok.

I have VirtualClone Drive 5.4.5.0 running but that hasn't changed either.

 

I doubt that the FW update had any effect on this but let's consider this problem as solved.
