dominium Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Hi I have a new DL samsung DVD burner AD-5260S connected via a Sata cable to a port controller (not to the motherboard). I have tried burning fable to back up one of my xbox games. I have DL DVDs, (not the best but have worked several times before on a friends laptop which supported DL burning)and tried burning the same image on another drive in the same computer which unfortunately wasnt DL(I wasnt sure so worth a try). dominium Posted July 21, 2011 Author Share Posted July 21, 2011 Hi Thanks for the replies, I updated all my drivers and updated vista to SP2. I got the latest IMGburn 2.5.5.0 but it now has a different problem. It still stops at 5%. I cant remember the exact error code and dont really want to waste another disk but it had something to do with inproper responce from the drive. I think its related to the drivers but they are all the latest. The computer is fairly old could it be possible the drive and the older PC is not quite compatible especially as I have Windows Vista installed maybe further complicating it. Can you use a rewritable or a CD-R / DVD-R / DVD-RW with 'Test Mode' enabled for testing with - so you don't waste more discs? When you can, post a new log. After looking online through my history the error was "No additional sense Information". Because its a Dual Layer media it wont allow test mode. LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 21, 2011 Share Posted July 21, 2011 You don't have to burn that same image file, you could just as easily (more so even!) test with Discovery mode. So dig out any '-' (minus) format disc you can find and enable test mode. Telling us what you think is the error is no good, we need to see the complete log. You really should have got a Silicon Image controller for optical drives, they're the best/most compatible. Using a short SATA cable may help with the VIA. Like a decent 30 - 50cm one. LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 21, 2011 Share Posted July 21, 2011 Forget about trying to 'install' the drivers, just go into Device Manager, locate the VIA device and update the driver manually. When prompted, opt to locate the driver yourself and point it to the 'VRAIDDrv\VISTA\x86' folder in wherever you extracted V-RAID_v6.10a.zip to.
