Incomatable format, need help!

New to the DVD burning game and i am getting the following log messages whenever i try to burn ans iso image:

Your drive is ancient and doesn't support that media.

 

Try to get some older 4x or 8x stuff.

 

Better still, invest in a new drive.

Thanks for your help. The drive came from an old box when i put this system together. Didnt realize it was so old. Any suggestions on a good/economical one?
