PMA Full (Using an Enterprise Win7 Build)

Recommended Posts

So... Got a PMA Full message with writing ability unlocked (it's usually locked, but being a member of the IT has it's perks).

I need to burn the network build discs, which is about 240MB, but I can't. I can do it on the computer which has XP on it, but not my own with Win7. Both have the proprietary versions of Windows on them, due to my workplace being an enterprise company.

I need to know what is going wrong, so that I may attempt to address it.

I finally gave up and hit continue, and received the 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error. Then just started burning on the XP machine.

All I can say is...

Ditch the cheapo 'Daxon' discs and buy some decent ones! Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

If you must use what you've got, try burning at 8x instead of MAX.

I'm using Imation DVD+R 16x single layer discs. And if it helps, theres some codes laser etched into the center; AMC16DPR47DH3101.

I'll try using a static write speed as opposed to AWS.

Imation is just a brand name, it's the MID / dye the discs use that's important. Yours are 'DAXON-AZ3-00'.

AWS doesn't do anything if you don't configure it :) ('it' being the 'Automatic Write Speed' feature - and there's a guide for it in the Guides section)

Good burns come from a decent drive/firmware/media combo. The software plays no part in it.

You might get away with using the cheapo 'Daxon' stuff in some drives but the one you're using doesn't appear to like it very much.

Whilst that *could* be due to a problem with your drive, I'm inclined to go with media at this stage.

You'll get no (or at least a LOT less) coasters and better quality burns on decent media, plus it'll be easier to read in other drives and last longer.
