Verification of Layer 1 fails

The write process succeeds on both the layers and then it starts to verify. Imgburn fails every single time it tries to verify layer1.

I have been using ImgBurn for over a year but only recently upgraded to the latest version and today is the first day i am burning a double layer dvd with the newer version and have not been successful. I have just managed one coaster after another. Can someone help as to what I am doing wrong here or if there is a bug? thanks in advance to all who help!!!!

Yawn. Change your blanks to Verbatim MKM-001s. Even the slightest search would have led you to this conclusion.

so all the other zillion dl dvds that i burnt which were not verbatim, and are working fine was me being lucky????? i read the other posts and the recommendations for verbatim.

If you've burnt zillions, perhaps your drive has just seen better days.

 

So take your pick, new discs or a new drive!

thank you, I think it will have to be new discs... since the drive is still burning single layer dvds with no problems at all.

Just because you burned "zillions" of discs and didn't have any problems doesn't mean that a year from now (or even possibly an week from now) those discs will still be readable. Cheap quality discs are not worth it, no matter what!

 

Your drive is very old and you might want to get a new one. It appears, from what I have read that it came with a Dell computer and the last firmware update for it was back in June 2005. This update was from Dell and is the firmware version you have. The last Phillips update was back in 2004.

 

If you do decide to get a new drive you should still use only Verrbatims for your dual-layer discs (Use on +R, not -R) and stick with Verbatim or TY's for your single-layer discs.
