So the error code from DVD+R is 'No Additional Sense Information' ? You really need to use SPTI for it to be of maximum help to me. That's what I use/work with day in, day out. My USB enclosure is just a ?17 job from SVP. It uses the Prolific PL-3507 chipset and I've flashed it with the latest firmware from the Prolific website. Nah, you have to download the firmware from prolific. http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=44 You need the flasher and the firmware itself. Both are on that page. The enclosure firmware isn't like burner ones... there should be no benefit from going backwards - i.e. if write strategies got mucked up! btw, I just plugged my 712 in and it's burning as I type this. Using TYG03 media. Oh, can you also please post up the entire log of the burn, not just the error you get. Ignore the 'Check Condition' bit, that doesn't mean what you think it means! The real error is the last one - for 'Sense Area'. In your case, 'Invalid Address for Write'. For some reason your burner thinks burning to those sectors is invalid. Does it still error out with that same message if you turn 'Test Mode' on?

No, it was all done on-the-fly without any need for that.

Did you update the firmware on the enclosure? That's the only thing I've done. If that doesn't work for you, it must be something else in your pc that's causing it.

There is no issue with ImgBurn/DVD Decrypter, it's a windows api call and it takes as long as it takes I'm afraid! There is no way to abort the command once it has been issued. Either the OS replies or it doesn't - in your case, doesn't - in which case it hangs forever. Are you sure nothing else is using the drive? Have you followed the info in the FAQ about this type of problem?

There was never any groudwork in DVD Decrypter for image building. You're confusing it with just reading the disc sector by sector to create an image. This is the next big thing I'll work on. No idea how long it'll take though

You have my permission to include ImgBurn on your site so long as it's all provided free. There is no license as such, just 1 basic rule... don't sell it in any way, shape or form.

It means your drive doesn't like those discs. See if there are any firmware updates available. If not, or that doesn't work, try some other discs.

lol ok so I was only kidding about the 'god had intended' it part - but I've only ever heard of 1 add-in controller card working with optical drives - and clearly it's not the one you're running.

Erm.. besides hassle?! It's not really needed for day to day image burning. If you NEED a tool that burns in RAW mode, you're always better off using the tool that made that RAW image in the first place.

So let me get this straight... You've got your ide drive on a 3rd party controller so you can bypass some protection scheme?! Now that you've done this, your drive isn't working? Well my advice would be to moan at promise for not making controllers / drivers that work properly. Or, stop trying to bypass starforce and start using your pc as god had intended it to be used - i.e. without optical drives on 3rd party controllers!

lol you want cli args for everything! I can add an autoexport one to a given filename I guess. Something like /IBG "" It would then be up to you to pass that filename to dvdinfopro - after checking it exists of course! I'd also recommend checking it's at least version 4.50. Versions prior to that don't work well/at all.

Might aswell update this thread even though I replied via email.... It's a CD image and it would appear that by definition, they don't ever just contain 1 track - hence the value I check is always more than 1. This has now been fixed. That doesn't mean I recommend using ImgBurn to burn CD images when they're in MDS/MDF format. ImgBurn doesn't take into account any of the 'special' bits included in the image file - basically, it doesn't burn in 'RAW' mode.

Is it media that your drive actually supports? It certainly doesn't look like it. Try the 1.02 firmware too.

As the Image has already been built, ImgBurn can't do anything about the physical location of the files within it. It would indeed need to shift them about in order to make a cell line up nicely. The recommended way of building DL images is via PgcEdit. You can play each cell that 'could' be a potential layer break position. It'll then build an ISO with the correct padding so your chosen one works. So basically, forget messing around with those other tools for the building part and just get PgcEdit to do it.

It can't have - or at least not according to the MDS file it doesn't. If you're really really really sure it's only a single track one, post the mds file up here (or email it to support) and I'll take a look at it.

wow, that's a shocking burn at 8x! No wonder you burn at 4x! I'm sure that can't be right though... either there's a bug in the firmware for that media or BenQ really need to get their arse in gear and support them properly I only wish I had some TY +R 8x discs to test with so we could compare I have some 16x DVD+R ones (Plextor branded) and I also have 8x & 16x real TY DVD-Rs. No 8x DVD+Rs though.
