You were only trying to read the disc, changing the verify option and the write speed wouldn't do anything.

If your drive can't read the disc, make sure it's clean/not scratched etc. and try again. If it still doesn't work, get another source disc... yours must be faulty.

The Ask toolbar can be removed by the usual add/remove programs feature in Control Panel. Homepage/search bar stuff isn't usually reverted when you uninstall toolbars so you'll have to just go into your browser config and do that stuff.

It should honour the speed it's set to. I don't know why the drive isn't when it's actually returning that 16x is the current write speed.

Oh sorry, I had read the initial post as it saying DVD+r DL with a DVD-rom booktype.

I don't think that drive supports manually changing the booktype at all. It does it automatically for DVD+R DL.

Because I'm not going to look at a bug report of an old version... full stop. Changing the 'capture graph data' option may get around it for a while but as it's a compiler issue, you may well run into it elsewhere. Even if you *think* 2.4.4.0 is ok, you only have to check the 'Fixed' items in the changelog to see what's been worked on since then. It's far from perfect.

Your burn was successful the first time, it's just the verifying (reading) stage that fails. As such, what I said in my previous post still applies.

Ok, so you don't need to touch any of ImgBurn's settings at all. When I do my tests for the drives/media forums, I do so on the default settings. All I found you need to do for working burns is enable the 'Force HyperTuning' option on the drive. FHT, OHT and OverSpeed are off by default, SmartBurn is On by default. So all you're changing is FHT to on. Then, as you said, burn at 4x. You should also clear the drive's OPC history just once before starting over again. Don't do it every burn. If you aren't getting burns that verify ok (I'm ignoring actual error levels in kprobe etc for now), you have some sort of hardware issue - be it with your drive, media or system as a whole (maybe PSU?). When you've ensured everything is configured as above (and you've cleared the drive's OPC history), post a log of you burning and verifying an MKM-003-00 disc please.

Unless you can enable the 'Force HyperTuning' (Lite-On) option on that drive, you're going to be out of luck. Buy a Lite-On!

Ah ok, so you're just 'doing it wrong' then Follow the guide in the Guides forum.

To grow by that much, you're either adding something into the image that shouldn't be there (maybe the original ISO itself?) or they've got 2 files on the disc that reference the same physical data... in which case, try enabling the 'Optimise Duplicate Files' option in the settings ('Build' tab).

If verification succeeds, your PC should have no problem playing the disc. Your standalone must just have a problem with the data towards the end of BD-R DL discs. I'd still like to see that log file if you could post one please.

It'll be a hardware issue or something with the drivers. Is it a special usb -> sata adapter you're using or just some generic thing? I'm not a fan of Windows 8 either and will be sticking with Windows 7 for as long as possible (or until they bring out another 'desktop' OS with the start menu back in place properly).

There must be some issue with sending the commands on your machine. I assume you've tried other ports and cables? Do you have an eSATA port on your laptop?

Can you also post a screenshot of the main window (not obscured by anything) at the point when that I/O error box pops up please? That's not an error you're supposed to be seeing. copy + paste all of the text from the log window at that point too please (assuming you're able to do that)... failing that, a screenshot will do.

Maybe their tool doesn't support the 'upgrade' disc?

My guess is it's having trouble reading the disc. Do you verify your burns? Do you only have one type of 50GB BD-R DL? Posting a burn+verify log may help us help you.

What does the program list for 'Supported Write Speeds' in the box on the right? Whatever's in that box is all the drive/firmware/media combo support.
