  1. Hey guess what? The latest firmware fixed the problem. I checked and one one of the Ide primary or secondary channels was showing a current transfer mode of PIO. you can't change it yourself and the microsoft hotfix was only for service pack 1. i'm on service pack 2 but i couldn't upgrade to 3 (that would've fixed this problem also) because it's not a legit copy. so i thought i was screwed. but then after i upgraded to the newest firmware for my dvd burner i noticed that the current transfer mode was set back to DMA. cool huh? I'm once again burning at average speeds in the 7's. Thanks for your help.
  2. ok i'll check everything and report back.
  3. WOW!!! that was fast. But I checked all that before I posted the problem. DMA is set already. The burner is the same burner i've been using for over a year. Why all of a sudden am i having this problem? Is it a setting in the new release of imgburn?
  4. Hi, I've been succesfully burning 360 games on verbatims for over a year. I always set the write speed to MAX and the average burn speeds were 7.6x. But yesterday I changed two things and I don't know which is causing my problem. The problem is that when I burn now, the device buffer is rapidly going up and down. It was never like this before. It used to be stable. For this reason my write speed doesn't even go over 2.7. The two things I changed was that I upgraded to the latest imgburn and also I moved all my 360 games from a faulty hard drive to a new one. Here is a log of my most recent burn. //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 - Log ; Monday, 01 June 2009, 21:39:46 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 19:27:35 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! 5. Thanks for all the info. I didn't know any of this. I will lookup the above link to see if I can try to change the the frame rate from PAL to NTSC. You guys are great. Keep up the good work.
  6. I see the problem. The dvd is pal. The dvd player that does play this dvd is ntsc and pal. The dvd player that does not play is is NTSC only. I may be wrong but I assumed that by me checking the option on dvd shrink to allow "Region Free" would allow this dvd to play basically on any dvd in the world. Is this not so?
  7. It says no disc but only with this movie (both the original and the backup). Could it have anything to do with this wording that it says on the original "DVD VIDEO AC-3 5.1" ?
  8. I actually selected that option when I burned it. The dvd still won't play on one of my dvd players.
  9. Hello, I hope someone can help. I purchased a dvd movie in China. I'm back in the U.S. now and this movie only plays on one of my two dvd players. I don't know the format or how to find that out. Anyhow, I decided to rip it as I do to all my movies and then burn the iso file in IMGburn. I thought that this would make it compatible with the dvd player that wasn't recognizing it. Well the burn was successful. But it still only plays in one of my dvd players and not the other. Any ideas on how to make it compatible so that it can play on most any dvd player? I'm burning it on DVD+R media. And by the way, I've never had this problem with any dvd media on that dvd player until now.
  10. Thank you very much. I'm glad you gave mentioned both options.
  11. Hi all, I have been using Imgburn mainly because I wanted to burn games and it was suggested that I use this. I like it a lot and now I'm wondering if I can replace my dvd movie burning software with IMGburn. Currently (for movies) i'm using 3 programs that work together. Rip it 4 me, DVD Decrypter, and DVD shrink. I start with the Rip it 4 me and each programs opens up the next when it's time for that stage. I believe it finally burns using Nero so that's a total of 4 programs. I'm the type of guy who hates having more than 1 program on my computer for each function. I only need the best one, right? So can you guys tell me if I can incorporate IMGburn into what i'm doing with my movie burning? And how to do so, so that they work seamlessly the way they do now.
  12. It's a dell optiplex slim computer, not laptop, but i'm sure the same hold true. thanks for the information.
  13. No just one. But I am on a network at work.
  14. I you noticed on the log below I received a message that reads W 17:29:34 Waiting for buffers to recover... W 17:29:45 Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level... The burn did complete and I verified it afterwards. But do you know why this message appeared? Is there something I can change in the settings to prevent this? I just want to be able to burn as smoothly as possible without any chance for errors. I received this message twice. One of the times I was burning with no other programs opened at all. I even rebooted the computer and went straight to imgburn. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 - Log ; Friday, 02 May 2008, 17:56:56 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 17:25:24 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! 15. Guess what? After posting the error I shut down IMG and reopened it. Then I tried verifying again and it worked. I've written three so far today with success. But I would still be interested in upgrading the writer to a more DL friendly one. Would you mind giving me any suggestions?
  16. I switched drives to the one you see in the log. The writing process seemed to be succesful but I had errors during the verifying. Any ideas what it could be? 17. I was afraid you would say that but I also anticipated it. Since I am now shopping for a new drive would you say it would be wise to buy the samsung model that also reads the 360 games? Or does that one not burn well either? I've heard that the best for burning games is Pioneer 111d, and 112d. Is this so?
  18. Ok I don't understand what is wrong. I'm using the correct Verbatim 2.4x DL made in Singapore yet the burn won't go past the "writing leadin" stage when i get an I/O error. I also just updated to the newest firmware for my writer. I'm trying to burn a game which is why I'm using DL. Funny thing is I used IMGBurn succesfully for two movies using a dvd+r. I'm new and I still have not been succesful burning a game. I 21:28:11 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! 19. Well I've read plenty on here since I joined last night and I figured out that I need to use Verbatim, made in Singapore, 2.4x DL ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Thanks for the light-speed response. I will try to burn again and post the inevitable error log.
