Didn't realise you were bi lfc...
Neither did I.....
=))

Multitasking when burning isn't recommended either.
-
Why not just have some media already in the drive ready to go...???
As usual when I start burning I don't have media already in drive.
So you might start burning today but not actually put any media in the drive until tomorrow...well, that makes perfect sense.

Enjoy this free version of Recode boys: http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/...ro-Recode.shtml

Problem only seems to happen to DL disks!
They are too expensive to test with...I prefer SL discs anyway. If compression gets too high use DVD Rebuilder.

Don't mention...I'll put in a good word for ya mate, really don't mind. :rotfl:

IMHO the 2.4x Verbs are better quality than the higher speed ones
I have a distinct feeling of deja vu. The Ritek G03s and G04s were brilliant. The G05s suck.
Aren't those Ritek's of the single layer varietah?

I'll never understand why would a person need a state-of-the-art laptop if they're just going to surf the net.
I got mine so I could surf the net outside and also take it to work to burn/watch movies....uh yeah.
I can also sit on the couch or just stay in bed if I want and still have just about everything I need at my fingertips PC wise.
-
The only ones I've tried as well...never had a problem with 'em either.

That is excellent info...I think I'm feeling a rise as well.

Who gets paid to follow these animals through the jungle to pick coffee beans outta their shit ??
Are you looking for a job? I could get your resume to the right people if you want....

under the impression that the drives were still expensive when compared to PC drives
Very much so. About 3 times the price here in Oz. Then you get to pull the lappy apart...... and they're absolute bastards to work on.
I agree completely...really wouldn't want to attempt a replacement myself, and to get it too fit with the mold of the case would be difficult as well. I did check on an NEC slimline for my laptop a few years ago and it was aroung $60 (US) if I remember correctly and eventually talked myself out of the venture. The way to go would be external via USB/firewire I would think.

There is nothing wrong with those Verbs you had, I just thought maybe they weren't included in the write strategy of the new firmware that you just flashed.
I'm in the US, but I think most of my friends in the UK buy their media from http://www.SVP.co.uk

did a test and it said "97%" but at the same time, the file said it was going to take 8 gig
The "media required" for that 97% should have been a DL disc too...
Am i supposed to select another layer break file and hope it goes under 4.7?You need to compress your 8 gig original file with a program such as Recode to get it under 4400Mb and then you should be able to use Imgburn to burn that file onto one(1) single layer blank DVD.

DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-001-00)
Those are the original Verbatim DL discs to hit the market...they are up to MKM003 now AFAIK.
-
Old discs and new firmware might be a problem.
-
That firmware was just released a few weeks ago from what I can tell...did you have problems before you flashed the drive?
-
Actually forgot this was a lappy....you can get a slimline for about 2X what an internal drive costs I do believe or get an external drive for about the same.

GREAT NEWS!

Good luck Kirk.

The MDS file is basically just a set of instructions that tell Imgburn how to handle the ISO when burning...if you'll notice it is usually just a few Kb in size. If I have an MDS available when I make a burn I typically choose it vs. the ISO to burn directly from. If you are burning to DL media it is important to choose the MDS because it also contains the layer break information.

Obviously not being a woman
Are you still waiting on someone to take the bait?

Look on the upside....if you fry the drive a new one will be pretty cheap.
Write button enable, even if blank media not in drive

I meant to vote "yes" but hit the wrong button by mistake....
The new series comes on the first of June...can't wait, it's one of my favorites.
