They finally listed ImgBurn at Wine HQ on there app database

Hopefully they will get the Unicode drop down box BUG fixed sometime in the near future. I am currently doing 90% of my DVD work on LINUX with very good results. Using ImgBurn on Linux vs. Windows XP shows no difference on a dual boot machine with the same Media and burn speed when scanned by DVD Info Pro. Yes there are some minor bugs that can be worked around, performance is sometimes faster on Linux than on Windows XP.
With the direction Microsoft is going with Vista I will be sticking with XP or moving to Linux. Thanks again for the great program and maybe someday I will convert more people to Linux!

I was just wondering if you have any luck with the Unicode combo boxes yet?
I have ran at least 15 build and burn tests without a failure and pretty consistent scans with DVD Info free. This is still my burning program of choice whether running Windows or Linux. They still have not listed ImgBurn in the app database at Wine HQ, but it took quite a while before they listed DVD Rebuilder as well.
Where are all the Linux users around here?

I see there has been a lot of activity at WineHQ that stuff is way beyond my skills. I just wanted to thank you again for the great program and the work you have put into it for all of us! My company bonus comes out in a couple of weeks and I will be sending a nice well deserved donation your way. Wine is still under heavy development and it is not perfect by any means.

I submitted a bug report with a link to this thread and also added ImgBurn to the App Database. I am sure it will be a few days before I hear anything, it took like two weeks to get DVD Rebuilder added to the list.

I can keep using the PX-712 for the scanning and reading stuff. The Pioneer seems like a solid drive and everything I have heard has been good, thanks for all the input.

I am looking to upgrade to a dual layer burner even though my Plextor PX-712 is still going strong after almost two and a half years. I love my Plextor but would like some input from the senior members here on there thoughts on the best burner out there today!

Did you submit that bug report to them for the unicode combobox?
Even if the bug isn't directly in wine, I'd be interest to see what they have to say
Not yet but I will sometime soon, I will also like to add Imgburn to there App Database if that would be OK with you! I have added DVD Rebuilder and done testing on Vob blanker as well as a few other programs. If I get a response I will post the answer here.

After more testing I have found another bug with Wine, the star icons do not show up in the layer break window. I do not use dual layer discs as my main burner is still my very dependable Plextor PX-712.

I've spent all afternoon looking at this... unicode just isn't working right for comboboxes and it's nothing in my own personal code that's causing the problem.
Your programs have always been top notch IMO, I only wish I had your skills. Linux is a hobby of mine been using for about 9 months now and before that I never owned a computer until I built my first one a little over 2 years ago.
A quick search at WineHQ shows a lot of issues with unicode!

I would like to submit ImgBurn to the WineHQ's database and see if one the Wine experts can find a way to patch this.

I have this running on Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 using Wine, there are some differences from the previous version. The Build Mode has to be run under Windows98 due to a problem with the destination folder output. I still have more testing to do, but so far everything else seems ok. Is this enabled only on the destination box? I am still able to browse for a folder in the source box with no issues. It is only when selecting the destination folder that there is a problem, only the first letter shows up but the full filename will appear in the drop down.Hmm well all that's changed wild77 is that the box was made to be Unicode enabled via the TntUnicode components.It must not be able to parse the text properly under wine / linux or something.
btw, could u try not forcing the OS to emulate NT4 and instead uncheck the 'use cdrom class' option in the settings on the I/O tab.I usually have it set to Windows 2000 as you had suggested in another thread, I was trying some different settings to see if there was any difference.
I don't want to hijack this thread so I will start a new one in the support forum, also the ISO read and write functions still seem ok.Build Mode is also working now. Here is the new thread

Thanks for the new release, everything is good on my XP machine, but the new version seems to be broken when running on Wine and Linux. I can not get Build Mode to work. Here is a screen shot of the error

You shouldn't even need to do the NT4 bit - best not to infact.
Just disable the 'Use CdRom Class' SPTI option in the settings.

I have ImgBurn running on Ubuntu Edgdy 6.10 with Wine with no problems. It is one of the easiest programs to get running in Wine all you need to do is set it to run under Windows NT 4.0

You need to find a program that can read a disc to an ISO, sector by sector.
What about a program that has an ISO read mode, then use ImgBurn to write the ISO image to the disc.

You can get these things to run via WINE but it takes a lot of tweaking.
That's for sure! I am running Ubuntu Dapper Drake and the only way I was able to get wine set-up was with the use of wine tools.There is definately a steep learning curve in setting up LInux, but I have found lots of help on the Linux Forums.

Just finished watching the movie and it looked fine it was done using DVD Rebuilder(free version) with the HC encoder in Linux. I have not been able to get my Pro version of Rebuilder to work due to the registration key (i think) Will be trying to run CinemaCraft Encoder soon.
Ever thought of developing ImgBurn for the Linux OS?
I know the only thing keeping me from dumping Windows, are all the great DVD programs. The same thing stopping Linux from being more popular. Plus the fact it takes a lot more work to set-up and learn.
Any input from the knowledgeable people here would be much appreciated. Have a great day. I worked all night and it's time to crash!

Hmm why isn't the device buffer registering any value?
Is that normal?
Good question, I dont know why the buffer does not register, but I would guess it has to do with my wine configuration not your program! Also when building a dual layer ISO's the layer break icons do not show up.There are also a couple of other warnings I get and will post some time.
I still use Windows for all my DVD work, but have really become interested in Linux lately as a learning tool.
The way I see it even if I screw up I can start over with a new install and it is hard to beat the price!

I have the images posted at a free site with limited bandwidth per/hr.There is an error when I try to open any of your screenshots.Are you able to burn discs (CDs and DVDs) and generating ISO files flawlessly?The last movie I ran all the way from the rip, ISO creation then burn all in linux using ImgBurn and it's predecessor. After running the movie through DVD Info's read test all looks well and the movie plays great.
I am still tweaking the set-up and look to improve it.

Anyone else try ImgBurn using wine on Linux? I finally have it working on Ubuntu, there are some minor issues on my end. I am still testing but it looks good so far!

I will be waiting for the next release of ImgBurn, as it is the best burning program I have found! DVD Rebuilder which I use for most of my DVD work has the option to create a ISO file and then burn with ImgBurn. This combination in my opinion can not be beat. I paid for Nero and have been let down by the (BUGS!) LIGHTNING UK! and JDobbs will always have my support as well as the makers of PgcEdit, VoBlanker and the many other Freeware utilities. I would be the first to purchase any software from LUK as he has proven himself. Thanks and good luck to LUK!

Glad too see LIGHTNING UK! back. I have been using DVD Rebuilder with CCE basic (2 passes) for a while using Nero to burn, until Jdobbs added the ISO image option. I will not be going back to Nero, TOO MANY BUGS! and now they want you to update to Nero7. Donation is on the way,keep up the good work!
My encode times on a self built 2.8 P4 run between 1.5~2.0 hours using Rebuilder & CCE 2 passes. I have ran some tests with the HC encoder with great results as well, the times are slower but what do you want for FREE.
I would like to thank LUK!, JDobbs, and all of the others who put the hard work into these programs!

Have you tried Wine instead of VMware I have had very good results with ImgBurn with Wine on Ubuntu 6.10. I tried VMware and did not like it. Some Windows programs actually seem to preform better under Wine than they do under Windows.
