Hi guys, I have tried to burn this VIDEO_TS file I obtained from the DVD_Shrink treatment of a DVD. Twice in a row, the burn with "ImgBurn" was unsuccessful. I attach the log files for both attempts here. Would really appreciate if someone could taka a close look at both & tell me just exactly what the problem is. Common, experts, give us "neophytes" a bit of clue! What does a "crashed burner" imply? That is has had it, or what? Is this a hardware or software issue? This might help me understand better? IF somebody is sure the hardware has "broken down", then I won't bother wasting any more time with it until I get my "new toy". So, Cynthia, or any other experts out there [how about you, Lightning, you're the "Godfather" of the program!], is this where the problem is?

Get a new burner? That's exactly what I intend to do! Matter of fact, I have already ordered an ACER 3D HD Blu-ray burner (external) that also burn all DVD formats. (This is coming from the U.S.!). Until I get my "new toy", I'm trying to make a copy (for myself) of a DVD on a short loan, & this 2nd. attempt has also failed [see attached log]. While ALL previous attempts to burn onto DVD-R (that's the only media I've had) have not been a problem, these last 2 failed attempts have mystified me. Is the problem somewhere in the Video_TS folder I'd generated with DVD_Shrink 3.2.0.15 ? Or is the log showing/indicating a problem of incompatibility of the media I was using (VERBATIM DVD-R 4.7Gb) & the burning h/ware? Oh, one other thing about the mechanics of this Forum: How do I configure the settings to notify me, by e-mail, when I get a reply? I was trying to back up a concert DVD I bought. I used DVD Shrink 3.2 to get my Video TS folder. The original file was too big (there was a red part in the top bar). I deleted some components (mostly the 5.1 audio parts) to get the bar to show all green. I attempted the burn twice without success. Attached is the Log. I am also trying to burn onto DVD-R some mpeg4 & wmv video files as well as some mp3 files (music), so that when that DVD-R is played thro' a stand-alone DVD player, so that the player can just play the audio when it comes to the mp3 files. Can that work? Thanxx everybody!

I'm sure a lot of people on the Forum, myself included, appreciate that very much! Back to the matter of Blu-ray burning (which I am very keen to try): (a) I have printed somebody's full instructions on writing a "Blu-ray Video disc" using ImgBurn. I'm assuming this "Video disc" is the same as a recordable BD-R, BD-RE, or even the double-layer BD-R. Would the procedure be the same for burning a 3D Blu-ray disc? ( Like I said, I have a whole lot of mpeg-4 & wmv video files (which I used to burn onto DVD-R discs successfully using ImgBurn). You said I need to convert these mpeg-4 & wmv files to their Blu-ray equivalents. Are these equivalents the BDAV/BDMV files you mentioned? [Where does the CERTIFICATE folder come from?]. Any idea what suitable software does the necessary conversion? © I understand that commercially produced true 3D Blu ray movies have been shot with 3 cameras to give the depth & layers necessary for 3D rendering by 3D Blu ray players. The mpeg4 & wmv videos I have are obviously NOT shot with 3 cameras (many look as though only 1 camera had been used). How does this figure in the 3D scheme of things? IF I do manage to burn my video files onto 3D Blu ray discs, and when I playback thro' my standalone Bluray 3D player, would the picture on my 3D HD TV screen look a little 3D (like "simulated"), but not quite true 3D? (d) I'm buying a ASUS BW-12D1S 3D Bluray external burner. I'm not sure IF it comes with any burning software (probably not). Can ImgBurn still work with it? Thanxx again, Lightning, you're a champ!

Warm greetings from Oz! I'm new to Blu-ray. I bought a SAMSUNG blu-ray player. I would like to burn some of the mpeg-4 & wmv files I have in my PC to a recordable Blu-ray disc (ie. BD-R or BD-RW). Using the ImgBurn software, do I need a true, dedicated Blu-ray burner in my desktop PC? I've only got an ordinary DVD burner which I've successfully used to burn onto DVD-R discs. I've read Lightning's post on how to burn Blu-ray: those files/folders he mentioned, BDAV / BDMV folder and the CERTIFICATE folder - where do I find these files/folders? [sorry guys, but I'm just a beginner in this one]. Thanxx for any help.

Goodday! I don't know IF this subject/topic has been covered before: I did do a search & couldn't find it. This is what I'm trying to do: I have a commercially-produced educational DVD which has various segments of somebody talking about different subjects (hence the 5 different segments on it). When I did an "explore", not surprisingly, the 2 folders showed up: AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS. When I expanded the VIDEO_TS further, it showed 5 files of the type VBS_01...., as well as some .IFO & .BUP files. What I want to do is to be able to extract the audio of each of the 5 separate presentations into an mp3 format in my PC, and then transfer all those mp3's into my mp3-mp4 player so that I could listen to the audio from the DVD in my player when I'm on the bus or something. I'm sure this is not something difficult to do. Can someone advise how this is done? Thanks in advance for any help!

I have to burn an important fairly large (147 Mb) flash video file I have onto a DVD-R disc for playback on a stand-alone DVD player. I have been using ImgBurn in the past to successfully burn wmv & mpeg-4 files. Can I do it with a Flash video file (.flv)? Thanxx guys

THanxx for that. The "horizontal lines" problem was not consisting of black bars at the top & bottom of the video window. It was something completely different: they were more like horizontal "waves" of picture distortion when the subject in a video moves, ie. for example when a person's hand moves, the horizontal distortion is around the hand area, but not in the rest of the person's body if it is fairly stationary. So, anything in a video that moves will have this "horizontal lines" problem, that is, if that video has that problem. For reasons I don't understand, some vdeos I've burned onto a DVD have this problem, while others don't. Interestingly, when I play back the original video file (could be wmv or mpeg-4) in my PC (via Windows Media Player or Real Player respectively), that problem does NOT occur. This tells me the problem occurs because of something in ImgBurn. Does ANYONE have any clue where/how this problem comes about and the solution to that? The other question I have here is very simple, and I believe many people here can help: How do I configure my settings here to notify me by e-mail when I do get an answer to my post here? Hi guys, this Forum always seems to have a lot of real friendly people willing to help with their knowledge. I really hope someone can help with this. I recorded a TV program using a DVD-R disc. Now, I'm only interested in a scene somewhere in the middle of the whole program. I would like to burn just that scene onto another DVD or at least be able to keep that scene (somebody's speech) on my hard-drive. Can ImgBurn do that, or do I need another program? I'm sure this is something quite simple for most of you, even though I've never done it before. Another thing: Some of the videos I've created with ImgBurn (in conjunction with FlickDVD) from video files (eg. wmv, mpeg4) in my PC have come out horizontal lines in the playback. Is this a problem to be solved with a filter? I went on another Forum to ask about this, & somebody there suggested I use AviSynth. I d/loaded & installed the 2.5 ver., but just couldn't figure out HOW to use it. I asked for help on that forum, but nobody offered any. Does ANYBODY here know how to solve that problem? That's most likely driver or hardware related. Either way, it shouldn't be happening and you don't want it happening! So has it just happened the once? If so, forget about it and just burn it again! p.s. Your drive is a million years old now and probably not that well suited to todays media. Hello Lightning, It has happened twice in a row with this particular educational DVD. (Surprisingly, it has NEVER happened with a commercial DVD (like a movie or something). So, is it likely that the 'disparity' is between the "format" in which this (older) DVD was produced & my burning DVD-Rom? Did the Log show any real clues as to what was the "Incompatible Format"? It is not often that I encounter a 'failed burn' attempt with ImgBurn. This one has left me a bit 'stumped' because I'm not exactly sure what/where the problem is. I have encountered this same problem before, trying to burn this very same DVD (an educational DVD given to me by a company. I'm just trying to burn a copy for a work colleague). Apart from the attached log, I would like to give, here, whatever other info so that whoever would like to help here may find this extra info useful. I have seen this same 'I/O Error' before: Device: (output DVD drive) (ATA) Scsi Status: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 2A 00 00 02 85 20 00 00 20 00 Interpretation: Write(10) - Sectors 165152 - 165183 Sense Area: 70 00 06 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 0C 29 00 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Power on, Reset, or BUs Device Reset Occurred There are 2 buttons to choose from: 'Retry' & 'Cancel'. IF I click 'Retry', the next windows asks: Would you like to perform the 'Close Track Session/Disc functions, even though the write operation appears to have failed? IF I choose "Yes", it leads to the above "I/O Error" message again. The original DVD I'm trying to copy is about 3.5 Gb & I am a using VERBATIM DVD-R 4.7Gb, 16X disc to burn onto. In the Log, there are a few lines containing the words "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format". I would dearly love to know exactly what the problem(s) is. Thanxx a lot in advance for any help!

Thanxx for your suggestion, Cynthia, but the short video files I have are actually in wmv and/or mpeg-4. How (or what software) would enable me to seamlessly "join" them together? Thanxx again!

Actually, I ALREADY have and use DVD Flick; in fact, I use it in conjunction with ImgBurn. My DVD Flick is configured in such a way that when I hit the "Create DVD" button, it does its thing, and when it has finished "doing its thing", ImgBurn automatically comes on to do its thing until the DVD disc is burned. I'm just not sure what or how to do what I am trying to do. Sure, I can select each and every one of the sub-clips (the short video segments I have in the form of the video files I mentioned) into DVD Flick in the earlier stage of "Add Title", but that would play back those short video segments with short time gaps in between each other, like any other video file. Basically, what I'm, trying to do is to join the few short segments (each a video file in its own right) into a seamless whole before selecting it with DVD Flick. If the latter can do that, can you explain how that can be done? Thanxx again, guys.

If you have d/loaded a short movie which comes in more than 1 video file, is there a way to configure them in ImgBurn so that when you do the 'burn' (onto a DVD-R disc), you end up with the integrated movie, without any interruptions [these "interruptions" being the few seconds being the 4 or 5 seconds before the next video segment plays]? I know, when you have a movie, you usually have all of it in 1 video file (wmv or mpeg4 in my case). But sometimes, I have that very short movie in 3, 4 or 5 separate clips. OR, is this something to be done, preliminarily, in some video-editing program? If so, what can you recommend? Thanxx in advance for your help & expertise!

O.K, the first 2 guides look very useful, & I have printed them out in full for future ref. As for Cynthia's guide, it looks like advanced stuff for when ImgBurn cannot find cells for the Layer Break: how often would this sort of problem crop up? Would they crop less with commercially-produced DVDs, or no one knows?

Can someone answer my questions here on the the "Layer Break Position"? Or provide me with a link to explaining more about it? I haven't got the faintest clue what it is!

Erm well... if you look at the following line and think back to message box ImgBurn displayed telling you it wouldn't fit, yes! Another valuable lesson here; until here, I didn't even know the meaning of 'overburn'! The prefix "W" in the quoted line presumably stands for "Warning"? I guess another indication from the Log that the destination DVD didn't have enough space is that: 'Destination Media Sectors' was given as 2,298,496 and the "Image Sectors" was given as 3,462,576, right?

Who are "they"? These days almost any comercialy DVD comes as DVD DL from various reasons: the feature runtime is longer than ~60 min, some added commercials, multiple language sountracks and subtitles, trailers and a lot of extras, etc. So there is no room for all that on a SL disc. Hello Ian, this commercial DVD I bought (a long time ago) is dated 2003; so, very likely it is DL? To answer your question, when I said "they", I meant the ImgBurn program log generated for my attempted burn. I did mention that I had successfully burned, with ImgBurn, another DVD I have (Pink Floyd) which was (according to its cover info) packaged in 2009. The burn proceeded smoothly, no drama. Unfortunately, because the burn was easy & successful, I didn't bother noting the image size (it must be somewhere in the Log?). When this burn was successful and the next wasn't, I thought it might be an issue with some setting(s) rather than a question of destination-disc space, because before the next burn, I did go into the settings to change a couple of things (which I thought were only minor, like ejecting the disc when the burn was done). Looking at the log I provided, would you be convinced that my burn-failure was simply the singular issue of the destination disc NOT having enough space and nothingelse? Thanxx again.

OK, LIghtning, I'm learning something useful here: IF the ImgBurn generated log (for the attempted burn) shows an "Image Size" as 7,091,355,648 bytes, then there's no way the source DVD (this 7 Gb wasn't sitting in my hdd) could not be DL; for 7 Gb, it has to be DL. In the 'Panel' on the right, under the 'Info' tab, when it said "Min. Required Media: DVD+ (or -)R DL", was the "DL" bit here indicative that the source was indeed DL and, therefore, one should also use a DL disc for the burning (because there was no way in the world a SL disc would have the space required to burn all the contents of a DL disc)? Hi there, I am mystified even further. You said the DVD disc I was trying to copy from was a DL disc? How did you know that?? I know I even mentioned (and it's there in the Log) that under its "Info" tab, amongst other things, it mentions the "Min. Req. Media" as DVD + (or -) R DL> I thought they inserted the "DL" bit there just to emphasize the much larger space that was required (ie. > 4.7 Gb that my DVD-R discs provided), not they they necessarily mean the source DVD is a DL. Looking at the commercially-produced DVD, I cannot see, anywhere on the disc or album cover and/or materials, that there is ANY mention of DL. Please enlighten on this. Thanxx again.

Using a DL DVD disc is out of the question because my burning drive is at least 8 years old & is not DL-capable. Your 2nd. point: Yes, I DO want a copy of the DVD I was trying to copy. Let me see if I had understood you correctly on your suggestion: let me put this question into 2 stages: were you suggesting that: (a) I first create an image file of the original DVD & 'park' it somewhere on my h/drive? [if so, then, I would be selecting "Create image file from disc" on the very first window that comes up when I start up ImgBurn? [2nd. command from the top, on the left hand side of the ImgBurn window]. ( After that, I would be selecting "Write files/folders to disc" (top command, on the right hand side of the window) to burn onto my 4.7 Gb Verbatim DVD-R,is that right? Obviously, if this is successful, then I could delete the folder created (and saved) by step (a) above on my h/drive, because this step ( does not automatically delete that folder after a successful burn, right? DO you know why ti is possible to do it this way, rather to do it directly the way I tried, ie. burning (onto a blank DVD) directly from the original DVD sitting in another DVD drive (which would, obviously be the most time-saving method). I'm really new to this ImgBurn software, and I did spend a lot of time in the last couple of days going thro' all its tools & settings to see IF there was some setting(s) that could be adjusted to make for a successful burn on my part. I have to admit I didn't understand most of the settings configurations - I was hopelessly "lost" amongst so many settings boxes! Does anyone know IF any setting(s) can be adjusted, like choosing to leave out certain features (eg. foreign languages, etc.) I don't want and burn only the main program in the DVD? I still don't understand ANYTHING of the several questions I asked in my post; my understanding of those issues have progressed forward one bit. Would someone care to provide the answers to the specific questions I raised? Common guys, all I'm asking is jus a little of your time & knowledge. Everyone is good in something, and this is, unfortunately, not my forte. I am a Ph.D. (from Cambridge, England) in nutritional medicine, and I've had absolutely no problems in freely giving of my time & knowledge in various nutritional forums.
