  1. I made four bran new coasters yesterday (ought to keep the wife happy) 2 were made with imgburn and two were made with Nero. The logs from Nero I think are more telling and that is because both burns were failed at the exact same spot. However the burns were two different burns ie, the first one was from vob files and the second from an iso image and both files were different sizes.

    11:50:54 PM #30 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5839

    Drive: LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S

Book Type request [LO], rev 3: DVD+R

Changing the Book Type was finished successfully, return code 0

    11:50:54 PM #31 Phase 38 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832

    Burn process failed at 16x (22,160 KB/s)

Both Nero burns failed at the exact same spot in bold above.

The imgburn fails happened for different reasons. The first fail I got a js error that said it was due to crc (cyclic redundancy check) I checked the file with cdcheck and there was the one error so I ripped again the file and checked it with cdcheck and it came up clean so I went to burn again but it had a js message regarding CR protection.

Here are my two imgburn logs

I did search last night on the Nero error and it would seem that it is either a firmware update needed or has to do with incd.

How do you either flash a drive or update the firmware?

    TIA

  2. No probs random. It was a well thought out and lengthy post, so sorry you spent that time in vain.

But we really so appreciate your sensitivity to LUK's history.

    Regards

No problem, I kinda thought when I did not get initial responses that maybe I went in a wrong direction.

  3. Not wild about the latest FF, most extensions are not compatible....yet. I do not like the spell checker that is built in, I like the spell check extension that I have better. Aarvark is another that is not compatible yet.

I have both but use my older 1.5 over the new beta.

  4. Like grain said, only if you have DVD's from other regions.

I also use a LiteON and as my G/F lives in the USA(regoin 1) she often sends me movies before they are released here. As my standalone is regeion 2 the only way to watch them is on my pc. So for me personally It is a benifit.

I live close to Mexico and interchange DVD's with family across the border so it may come in handy.

    Thanks

This can be closed because it is solved.

  5. Yesterday I did pick up a little something per kevdriver's post. It took forever for me to get this to SHRINK the .ISO but It finally did so after a few hours and several tries later(the actual shrinking part went quickly, the back-up feature crashed a lot) , it then encoded, about 30 minutes to do so, then writes 28 minutes to do that but when it finally got to minute 27, the burn failed and viola, I have a new coaster.

I suppose I can always go out and buy dual layers, it is just that I have 100 pluss DVD+R's

what are you using for media ?

having the burn fail at the last minute suggests poor quality discs

can you post a log of the burn or at least the info window for the media

I am going to start a new thread that addresses this better, it can be merged if thought to be appropriate.

    Thanks

  6. Looking around in imgburn, I found a link that brought me to a firmware update for disabeling the regional code on my burner itself (lite-on)

Is this ever advantageous to do and when if it is? I assume since most programs remove multiple settings the the regional code on the burner is obsolete...?

    TIA

  7. An entry where SPLIP = No is just the most obvious choice for a layerbreak position as normally the original one will be configured like that. It is by no means vital.

The program will automatically mark a cell as SPLIP = No when you select it if it's originally set to 'Yes'.

    Thanks Lightening UK,

I am curious about one thing. Is it ok since SPLIP converts the cell to No to go ahead and write the cd on two DVD+r's?

  8. If you only have 1 option, select it. It doesn't get much simpler!

That is what I have done, and I can build the iso successfully. My problem is I am writing onto a single layer dvd so when it comes time to write, I get the obvious error screen saying there in not enough room, do you want to write it anyway?

How to I divide it onto two DVD's at that point or in my option to go buy dual layer verbatims?

Can it be compressed onto one single layer?

    Thanks for the quick response.

My only option was this one, I was not sure if you thought I only had one option of No to choose from and the SPLIP is yes, choose this option anyways?

I am clueless but will pick this up quickly.

    TIA

  9. I have read the guides and FAQ a few times, but am having troubles with the layer break ( I know you are suppose to select this option SPLIP is NO) however I am only given one file, there are not several to choose from.

I can burn the image to that one file successfully but then when I want to write, on a single layer DVD, there is not enough room and I get the warning message.

I assume it has to do with how I am adding the DVD project, but every time there is only one file and the only way around is to choose the ignore layer break option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA
