One last question. If you intend to backup something directly for storage purpose or such, is it any safer to use a lower read speed? I guess what I am getting at is for an important backup would it be better to use a low speed and if so which? Thank you very much for the help.

Thanks LUK In the event someone wanted to slow it down (scratched disc or something) what would be a good setting to put it at? I mean if its set at 4X would it read the disc at 4X or slowly build up to 4X read speed? If it was set at say 8X would it try to read data faster than it should, thus maybe not getting a good read?
-
So leaving it at MAX wont effect the ISO? The read speed will sometimes dip, but ends up averaging around 5.2X with max read at 11.2X. Is this normal though?
-
I was just wondering when using read mode to make a direct ISO what is best for read speed? I believe by default it is set at MAX but what will give best quality for the ISO? Thanks

Could the start times at 0:00:00 be because the layer break would be placed somewhere in the extras? Im not real sure. I had similar questions awhile back about the layer breaks, and I believe either green star would be fine (Blutach or LUK can explain much more). Also you could check and see where the original layer break is and use that one.

I had a similar problem to this awhile back. I upgraded firmware and must have got a bad flash, because, it would go 50% and fail. Did you recently do a firmware upgrade?

Pioneer Device, Verbatims, Reformated Computer, still problems!!

Why should he disconnect the other drives? Is it OK to have 2 burners on one cable? Are you suppose to make sure the master is at the end of the cable? -
Plays fine. But I always see other peoples scans for single layers and there usually around 8000 pie errors. What could I possibly do to get a better burn? I am using verbs at 2.4x. The only thing I can think of is I recently added a new drive and dont have an 80 wire ide cable. Could this be a big difference, I do plan on gettin a new 80 wire ide cable.

What do you mean? Are these actually good discs Heck there burn speed is 1-8x... These are two of the best scans I have ever got, with media I didnt think was to hot.
-
I think I got a couple exceptional scans on some old phillips media. Picked up these DVD+R's on the cheap and just made a couple discs for the heck of it. I got 2 tremendous scans I believe. The 98% was with my LG H10L and the 99% with the LiteOn. Are these good?
-
Thanks. Even scan 8x for dual layer burns?
-
When I use IMGBurn often times the buffer bar is full at 100%, is that normal?
-
The scan I showed was burnt at 2.4x and I just updated the firmware. What is the best speed to use when scanning for quality purpose in DVDinfoPro? Also, would getting an 80 ide cable make any difference?
-
Played fine in my player. Im not sure what would cause the end to of the scan to jump like that. Otherwise is it a good burn? Anything that can be done to get a better burn? My new burner is the LG GSA H10L. Also what speed is best used to determine quality for scanning? People often recommend 8x for single layer, but what about for dual layer? Thanks again.

Hi, I just installed my new burner and did a dual layer burn. Was wondering if this is a good scan or not. Scanned at 4X.

He could try the seamless playback. This is a very cool feature. You will need to try one out to see if it works on your player, but the seamless playback is a really nice feature.

After setting LB in Build it fails in write

So, making an ISO allows for 100% verification after burning, while direct to disc doesn't? -

Did not want to hijack the thread, but now that he solved his problem, I just wanted to ask a quick question. Is there any difference in burning the video_ts direct to disc, as compared to making an ISO and then burning? If not then why have the ISO option? Thanks -
As Blutach said, SUPER should do this. I believe SUPER has a drag and drop where you just drag the .wmv from the desktop to super and convert it to MPEG-4, I think? Usually takes about an hour or so.

@Blutach and some of the more experienced members. What is the best DVD burner out there? Benq?

Thank you LIGHTNING_UK, very fast responses and willingness to help. Very much appreciated.

I used the flash reader tool, and got my firmware back to HS0D and it has worked fine. So, hopefully it is fixed for good. Thank you very much for the replies as I was very stumped on what was going on.

I dont see what u mean? I also press the calculate button manually, and it gives me my first options for layer break. I picked the best one, and then set my labels, etc. Then once I hit build, it gives me the layer break again. Should I simply select the same layer break as the first time and then click seamless? Once I click seamless my player will either playback without the pause or freeze and not play the second part of the disc? Again thanks.

I was attempting to create a dual layer dvd with the seamless feature to test if my player could play seamless. However, im not sure I did it right. After selecting the folder and pressing calculator, it brings up the "set layer break" for the first time. However, the seamless button is not there. Only the "ignore layer break" option. I simply selected the best proposed layer break. Then the second time IMGburn asks for the layer break I then selected seamless. Did this make the DVD seamless? or did it stick with the first layer break I selected? Should I have selected the ignore layer break options? Thanks in advance as I believe my player should be able to play seamless playback.
