  1. Regarding the software, I make and create a project into an ISO with DVD Movie Factory by Ulead (now Corel), I usually make my own DVDs (rather than rip), so perhaps that is why ? If I ever do rip, then I always use IMGBurn, but to author and create a DVD from video files I need to use authoring software that creates menus, like Movie Factory, I use that as it supports xDVD format (I usually put 8 hours of VHS converted video on to a dual layer). So, are you saying I should make a VIDEO_TS folder with Movie Factory instead of a ISO and then build it in to an ISO with IMGBurn ? So, in your expert opinion, would you suggest seamless over an excellent rated layer break position if you know your player is seamless compatible ? Thanks again for all the help, love your software.
  2. Thanks, it is burning now at 4x, will see soon if the verification works. While I am here, what is your opinion on ticking seamless ? I always tick it, but do you think that is a wise idea ? I never know if a "green excellent rated star" layer break is better than selecting seamless. EDIT UPDATE : Well, it seems like the reason is due to the speed, so thanks to mmaives for that advice, I burnt it on my LG 4x DL burner and it verified fine, no errors or problems. Shame that they don't work at 8x as 4x takes ages, but them the breaks I guess.
  3. No, because I assumed media was meant to be burnt at advertised speeds these days ? I know once upon a time slower was better but I thought something changed where it meant a faster speed is often better. However, if you think burning at 4x or 6x is worth a go, I will do that and give it a shot. I will burn one right now at 4x and edit this post in 40 mins to see if it worked or not, however, it will be annoying if so, as I only got my external LG burner for faster dual layer burning as my existing one only burnt at 4x (which upon thinking about it now may explain why the ones I recorded last year, worked, as I could only burn at 4x then).
  4. I am getting so fed up with dual layers, even if I use Verbatims they recently always fail verification, at around 6 to 8% regardless of the ISO I have just burnt. I can't find any better dual layers so this is all I can get. I am sure when I used to burn them about a year ago they always were fine, but in the last month, with different batches even, they always seem to fail verification but not at the layer point like you might expect. I use them for archiving so unless I sit through an entire DVD each time after burning then I am never sure if they are still ok even if they failed. I have disabled AnyDVD. Any idea ? 5. I can only post the log for one of these errors as the other one requires me to turn off and on my machine as it just gets stuck, so I am guessing this means it is not able to write a log. Normally the traxdata Ritek blu-rays I use are perfect every time, I am unsure if this latest batch is just bad or if there is another reason. One of the errors I get is a "tracking servo error", see log below. The second error I get is that it stalls right at the start on "reserving track", or words very similar, and each time I can leave it for ages and it never moves on, and I can't cancel, so I have to literally turn off the machine as even shutting down via Windows doesn't work as it stays on the shutting down screen for ever. The blue light stays on without flashing on the front of my burner. Out of about 10 discs, 6 have given me either one of the two errors mentioned today. I know they are not a high quality brand but I have burnt over 200 blu-ray discs with this make and burner and had less than 5 coasters probably, so I stuck with what I knew worked. So can I put this down to a bad batch, or does my burner sound on the way out ? Or perhaps a update on ImgBurn has changed something ? Log for error 1............. 6. Any chance of having a MDS folder option ? So when you click the MDS file if it isn't in the same directory as the ISO then it asks you which directory it is in, which you can then save as default for that MDS file. The reason for this is I like to keep my ISO files neat and when I have a load of MDS files in a directory of ISO files then everything looks doubled up. I know it is very anal and I am probably the only person who cares, but if it is easy to implement, then great Thanks for your great work over the years !
  7. I used to have the same problem. I came here and saw to try Verbatims, I did, and I haven't looked back since, I get them for £19 per 25 discs, which is about 76 pence per disc, bargain. If you ARE using Verbatim already then you have me stuck, maybe disable AnyDVD if you hsve that.

  9. I created a home made blu-ray with Nero Vision in about March of last year, I came to watch it again today (last time I viewed it was straight after I made it 10 months ago) and it just spins, and takes AGES to even be read, but when it is read I just get endless errors. This is not an IMGBurn problem, I know, but I wondered if you could shed any light on why I am getting this error ? Sadly a copy I ran off for a friend doesn't work either, which is what prompted me to check mine, as I was going to send him a replacement. So both of our copies don't work, but did at the time (I always check discs I create and copy). How can this be ? Cheap media at fault ? I am worried now about the rest of my collection of home made blu-rays. Below is the info I am getting from IMGBurn (this is on-going still as I type). All media info should be in the text below. 10. Thanks for info. I will buy another disc then I guess. I just tried the Discovery Mode as suggested, and it went incredibly slowly at 0.1 and 0.2 speed and then now has got stuck at 9%. For about 20 minutes it has been stuck at 9%, sadly I am not getting an error message, just a 0 speed with no movement. Would I be write in thinking this sounds more disc based then hardware ? As I am a bit paranoid my unit may be faulty, as obviously I would prefer it to be the disc if anything. I don't think I know any shops around here that sell BD discs, so I will have to await postage. P.S : See image attached (also yes, I did disable AnyDVD). Thanks for your help !!
  11. For some reason I am suffering from a very annoying problem with my new GGW-H20L drive. Now given the expense of the discs I only have 2, one is a Verbatim BD-RE disc and the other just a write once BD-R. It worked fine for 2 weeks, except for a conflict with a Creative driver (the drive tray kept opening and closing, this was found to be a Creative Labs driver for Xi-Fi conflicting with it, so I ended the task). Now all of a sudden I can't erase the disc, I have erased it approx 8 times so far and up to this point it was fine and worked, I am sure it can be erased more then that. I can't see any scratches. I have tried various software to erase it, but they all get stuck at 100 percent, including ImgBurn, and then I can't do anything on my PC, no software will load, so I have to reset my PC. The reason I am posting here, is because I think you guys are probably the smartest out of all the forums I know, so although the problem happens with all writing software this forum is the place I think can fix it. Is it likely to be the disc at fault (I can't try another at the moment due to the
  12. I did try and do some searches before posting, but I wondered if someone could explain to me the below..... 1. What exactly does VOBU/ECC search mean on the layer break warning screen ? Should I use it if I have problems ? 2. How compatible is the "seamless" feature for the layerbreak as far as standalone DVD players go ? 50 percent ? 70 percent ? Etc etc. I have had many layer break problems in the past, hence these questions. I used the VOBU/ECC feature recently and it seemed to help, but I am unsure of this is coincidence, or if that did actually do something related to the layer break problem. Yes, before the Verbatim crew shout at me, I know it is always best to use that media, but given I spent out for 50 "cheapies" before I knew this, I may as well try and get as good a burns I can from them. At the moment if I select a layer break, then when I "verify" a DL disc it nearly always fails around 50 percent in. My current media I think is RICOH and MCG or something like that. Also to carry on from the Verbatim situation, back when DVD+DLs came out a couple of years ago I always used 2.4x Riteks and they were great (never had a layer break problem). I stopped buying Dual Layers though for a long time and recently bought 50 RICOHs (sp??) which have been very hit and miss. Anyway, my point is, are the riteks still good ? Obviously I don't expect them to be as good as a
