  1. I received a message saying that using read mode to create an image from a multi-track DVD-R disk is not currently supported. I am using the latest Windows on my computer and this is a self burned disk from my Toshiba D-R410 DVD Video recorded. I must have done something different when burning this disk because I could swear I have copied DVD-R disks I created from my Toshiba many times before. So, how do I use the build mode to make a copy of this disk? When I select build mode it says the disk is not empty.
  2. That makes sense. It IS a proprietary format, owned by the DCA according to Wikipedia. It's a format for sending audio discs to replicators because it contains additional information such as CD text, exact gap size, cross fades, etc, and maybe more importantly, there can not be errors introduced by any ripping process because there's error correction in the DDP file itself which doesn't exist in Redbook audio. On the DVD side, where it's less common, it also contains the information that tells the writer where to change layers on DL DVDs too which is handy when you need to control such things. You are probably. It probably would require a license. I don't know how their license works, if there are levels (such as create, write, play) or if it's a flat fee. If there's a cost involved I understand why it wouldn't be supported in imgburn, especially since many users wouldn't have need. Thank you for the reply. Peace.
  3. ImgBurn can create images from virtual drives. There are supposedly virtual burners that work, but the only I was able to try, I forget which one, because it was free failed miserably to write an image file to the virtual burner. Failed right away, within like the first attempted sector. What exactly do you want ImgBurn to do with a virtual disc drive?
  4. Particularly if you used some kind of conversion software to create the source you burned.
  5. i've looked everywhere and I can't find the answers to 1) how to begin with an existing iso image file and create a new iso after adding other folders and/or files to the new image? 2) how to begin with an iso image file and convert/save it to a hard drive as "regular" folders/files instead of an iso (the reverse of creating an iso from folders/files on the hard drive, which is a standard choice in the ez picker mode)?
  6. I'm using the Video Disc Option on Power2Go 12 to create a DVD. Only way to encode .srt is to already have it embedded in the source. Nice and pretty quick too!
  7. I was wondering if it would be possible to create a bootable BD on BD-RE-DL media (or any capacity BD media for that matter) from a bootable-DVD ISO image, simply by using the desired BD media and directing Image Burn to that bootable DVD ISO? The image's size normally requires DVD+/-R-DL media and since I have more BD-RE-DL media at hand I would rather not have to buy a stack of blank DVD+/-R-DL discs for very infrequent use. The only concern I could think of is whether modern UEFI based Windows hardware will be able to read a bootable BD (assuming that's possible to create from Image Burn) since BD would require at least UDF 2.5 or later support by the motherboard firmware, whereas DVD reading would only require UDF 1.02 support. Thanks for any input / advice.
  8. ok thanks - it's weird. I understand what you mean but still can't fathom how it worked and now does not. I don't recall using any other program. I have used Handbrake but not for this purpose. The solution is to switch to freemake - or 'notfree' make as that converts to DVD without a problem. The notfree bit comes into play as you have to upgrade to GOLD package to remove all the adverts/banners whatever. The simple fact is for me now, whatever I have done in the past (or as I claim not done), freemake works for me and imgburn does not. Just a shame with them I need to pay a fee. I could still use imgburn to use current discs that work if a need to burn another copy or replacement, ie create an ISO file from that workable disc, and then try and burn onto a new disc from that. As the original contains the AUDIO_TS and the VIDEO_TS that should work. The reason for all this is my son has autism/learning difficulties and is non verbal, part of his his fun time is his DVD player (or players I have a few!),, however his TV show tastes are stuck in the 80s so to speak, most of the TV shows he likes are not made anymore and a lot are not on DVD, so I started many years ago to copy old VHS tapes and get them onto DVD discs. I have 100s for him, and for all those I have several back ups in case a disc becomes unusable, I also have lots of pre-recorded discs for him for shows that made it onto DVD. I also have MKV/MP4/ISO versions of most of them on a hard drive so I can create new one's....I assumed using imgburn When one no longer works I swap it for a new one, whether that be pre-recorded or one I have done on the pc for him. I suppose if I have a workable disc as I explained above, if I need to make a copy of that it will have all the necessary correct file information (after all it does work), so I can create a new disc with imgburn from that otherwise it's 'notfreemake'.
  9. I am not feeding it MKV/MP4 though, I am converting them first on imgburn to an ISO file. Sure that's the format they were in originally but they have been written to ISO. The latest I tried was an ISO file not an MKV, yet when I wrote it over it still had MKV filename, not the AUDIO/VIDEO TS the good earlier one's had. It is that ISO file I am then trying to burn to a blank disc. Not the MP4/MKV one. I have used Handbrake in some instances, but for this I am merely trying to create a new disc from an existing ISO file. I have close to 200 discs I have done over the years all using imgburn. 1) original TV show/file (whether MP4 or MKV etc), ISO image created using imgburn 2) Disc created from ISO image, write image file to disc using imgburn I am currently just doing step 2 as I have already got all the ISO files prepared. That's it - now I can see though the new discs created do not have the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS names ISO.bmp
  10. What did you use to create the DVD that says it's an unknown disc? I'm guessing it wasn't Freemake. It might have authored an incorrect disc. And I'm still looking at if VIDEO_TS wasn't placed properly in the root directory of the job. Put this failed disc in your PC drive, open Windows/File Explorer and make sure there's a VIDEO_TS folder (Check for correct spelling, too.) in the root directory. Navigate to VIDEO_TS and make sure there's a VIDEO_TS.IFO file there. Also try playing this disc that doesn't play in another DVD player, preferably not a PC drive. Like someone else's DVD player. As for the log, I've never heard of the Disc ID being used before. However, since you've gotten them to work before, that's not the problem. It's an issue, but not a problem. Also, just going by judging here, looks like you downloaded this ISO you're burning? Maybe the ISO was never authored correctly to begin with.
  11. Hi, My son has autism and I have used imgburn many times to create ISO and burn discs for him, to be played on a portable DVD player. The 100s I have already done appear fine, I have tested a few, however I have tried to write an image file to disc today and I get 'UNKNOWN DISC' on the player. I have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. Any ideas? Johnny
  12. Hi there Does anyone know what i have to change that the ISO will become the same sha1 value after burning (Write) on a dvd9 and then creating (Read) the ISO from the dvd9 again? The ISO is over 5 GB. Does this even work? Can't find something on google but perhaps i use the wrong search terms... Many Thanks Regards Alitai
  13. I created a back up of one of my gaming dvds by using ImgBurn to create an ISO file from the dvd. I successfully completed the process, but when I try to test the ISO image by selecting the setup.exe file from the ISO, it gives the following error: "error reading setup initialization file." Is there a workaround to this? Any help would be appreciated. The ImgBurn log is uploaded as an attachment. (I deleted my earlier post but it still shows up for some reason). ImgBurn Log.log
  14. There is a free version of Alcohol 120% where I think the only limitation is it can't burn images to discs. But, what you could try is mount the MDS in Alcohol and use ImgBurn to create a new image set with an image format that would support multiple tracks. That may work.
  15. Internally, what Windows API functions is it using to rip the the full raw 2352byte sectors from the CD disks, including all error correction and error detection codes? I'd like to make my own software to raw read all data (including error correction and detection bytes), but not to write to a file, but rather just to read them (one sector at a time) into memory for analysis. The end user could select the sector number, and view all 2352 raw bytes of a disk. And if IMGBurn isn't using normal Windows API functions, how does it work? When I install IMGBurn from the installer EXE, does it actually install a custom-made kernel-mode driver that allows full access to all bytes of data on the CD disk?
  16. I rarely do Blu-Ray to container conversions but I do have access to a BD movie that was one a BD-50. I will create a container from it and see what results I get. I'll let you know when it completes, as I expect it to take some time. It's really interesting how life tries to trick you. After swapping back in the WH16NS60, I had a DVD+RW fail on me. Now, knowing this disc had been written to before, before I panicked, I tried a 2nd DVD+RW. It wrote and Verified fine. So, it just happened to choose that exact moment for the other DVD+RW to die on me in a blatant attempt to try and trick me. Yeah, looks like it's going to take over an hour. I'm creating an MKV from 1 hour, 43 minutes, and 16 seconds worth of main movie. I'm using Handbrake, set at Fast 1080p30, with 1 audio track, English DTS 5.1 channel, and 1 subtitle track, English. Only 1 Pass. Theoretically, using Fast over any of the HQ settings will result in a smaller file size. I guess I should have used Very Fast to minimize file size and time execution, but this should still be a good indicator once it finishes. And the results are in: 6.81 GB! So, is it possible to get under 1 GB? Yes. But, it requires a lot of compression. It would depend on the codec you're using, and it also means you're sacrificing video quality to get that small a size.

  18. Yes I think it can be used along containers as long as the software supports it. You mean that totally irrelevant to CD ripping you opened a pdf file and now Windows Media Player is corrupt? Their not the only game in town. Use that pwer2go. It rips CDs lovely to audio, Flac, Ape, and mp3. It also rips audio tracks out of videos. I ripped Thor Ragnarok's audio out as it was nice. CDex also is great and has that online service to fetch the info iykwim. I use any of those to then use Imgburn and create a .cue file. Very handy for suported playback on most devices. I do use WMP to fetch all my info and to rip to mp3.
  19. I'm trying to create an ISO of the entirety of my Windows 10 computer which currently has about 34 Gb of files including the operating system. The size is inevitably going to expand considerably. But instead of creating an ISO which includes ALL of what is there now, it shorts out at about 4 Gb which is basically the same as the Windows CreatMedia software pointed to as the boot information. How can I get the ISO that I need with *everything* included. I keep reading there are no limits on the size of the ISO to be created but after several tries the maximum size keeps bombing out at 4 Gb.
  20. Thank you for all of your reply!! 3 BD-XL disc are from the same box!!! Which buy from Amazon Japan! Maybe I need to buy another box for test!! 2 ISO images are create by myself by a ASUS Drive!! They are create by different software!! I burn them by Pioneer and Asus, But both Fail with Write Error!! So, It's not likely both Burner fail at the same time!! It's not an OS problem!! It's most likely to be a Verbatim BD-XL disc quality problem!! Right? I burn a lot (Over 200) BD-XL disc!! It's the first time I see this error on BD-XL! Some times I burn ISO to BD-R DL with write Error too!! But retry success by the same burner by a new Disc!!! ; I 10:56:13 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! 21. I was in the process of replying earlier, but once I saw it was doing the same thing on 2 different drives, I decided not to post. It shouldn't be dependent on if you installed the Windows 10 1903 Refresh or not. And it seems highly unlikely that 2 different drives would die at the same time. You said you used them for 2 years, which is pretty good for an optical drive, but not unheard of for Pioneers. So, maybe they both died simultaneously, but unlikely. So, where does that leave us? The most common denominator is the image file you're trying to burn. Did you create it or did you download it from somewhere? If you didn't create it yourself, the image file may be damaged. Even then, though, that generally doesn't result in write errors. Write errors are the result of either the drive, the disc you're trying to burn to, or a combination of both. However, at this point, I'd try what LUK recommended. Trying these drives in another PC and see if you get the same results. Also, as LUK said, are these 3 discs from the same stack/box? And is this a new box? Or have you successfully used them before?
  22. I was attempting to burn Gran Turismo 4 to a DVD+R DL disc. It requires an MDS file which contains the layer break information, but the image didn't come with it. So I loaded it with PCSX2 (PS2 emulator), and the console said the second layer was found at sector 0x001a2240 (1,712,704) Then I tried to create an MDS file, but to do so, ImgBurn needed the LBA address of the second layer. I just want to know how to convert the sector number to an LBA address! (And can I just use the sector number as the layer break point?) Please help!
  23. I created the .ISO file using "save ISO to hard drive" with Cirlinca DVD-Audio Solo 1.6.3, a program that makes proper DVD-Audio and not just a video that plays music... If it's of any help I have attached a screenshot of the same files I burned "straight to DVD+RDL" using the Cirlinca program instead of first using the program to create .ISO to hard drive then burn with ImgBurn, so I guess the files in the ISO would be the same files you see on the DVD that Cirlinca wrote the original files straight to?, I don't know about this sort of stuff.... The DVD Cirlinca burned VIDEO_TS says empty, you can see screenshot attached of the DVD layout as it's in my DVD drive. No I'm not using 'Build', I'm selecting "Write" the .ISO file on my desktop, that's the correct way to do it isn't it?, it works if I write to single layer DVD, but like I said I want to put it to a dual layer DVD. Here's the DVD Cirlinca burned files straight to DVD, I think the .ISO would be the same?....
  24. You shouldn't be getting layer break settings set at all if it really does fit on a DVD-5. About the only thing I can think of that might fix this is to create a new ISO that is a DVD-9. Add some extra files to pad out the size of the ISO so it will need a DVD-9. If that doesn't fix the problem, I don't know what is causing it. You're just importing a VIDEO_TS folder into a Build job and creating an ISO and that's the ISO you're trying to burn, right? Did you create the ISO first or are you using on the fly disc creation?
  25. Just as I thought. It's most likely junk media. Here's your problem: I 14:25:38 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: CMCMAG-BA5-000) You may be using Verbatim BD-R but this is the 2nd time I've seen foreign, e.g. outside of the US, Verbatim BD-R that is so called DataLife Plus that is not DataLife Plus but CMC garbage. In the US, there is no such thing as DataLife Plus Verbatim BD-R. It's all just BD-R and none of it is CMC. It appears outside of the US, Verbatim is trying to screw over their customers. The only solution is try something else, like Panasonic BD-R, if they make it. TDK may make BD-R and if they do it may be good, but TDK does make BD-RE that is CMC junk. You could always try importing Verbatim BD-R from the US. The other person I saw with this problem on the board imported the good stuff from the US to solve their problem. Oh, IC what you're saying about the data Blu-Ray. It's not a Blu-Ray Video you're playing. You're playing the folder contents via your player's browser. This won't present you with a menu like a Blu-Ray Video disc will. It seems this TMpegEnc software is not generating compliant BD Video content. This is inferring that TMpegEnc even creates a menu for its BD Video content. It may just start playing with the first chapter. I don't create BD Video so I can't say what to do at this point. Of course, why it doesn't start playing when you have the disc inserted as a BD Video, I couldn't say.
