  1. By recommendation of Bart, I am looking at ImgBurn. It looks and feels better then anything I have yet seen. But I am still faced with the fact that I don't understand a technical word you are saying. Am 68 and a bit slow. However I have viewed the How-to images and they give me some comfort. By the way, congratulation on such a good idea, it is such a time saver. I have tried many times, but have a stack of coasters for my effort. It seems to burn fine, but sadly none of the burns has delivered a bootable CD. The way it is going, I don't think my pension will cover the dud CD's. And I don't know what questions to ask, because it tells me that everything is fine. Even plays the fanfare which scares the life out of me each time, it spits out the CD. I am using: Thinkpad X30 with DVD burner in docking station. I can provide images of the Thinkpad hw/sw features on demand. But if someone already has an image stream I can work from, even from another computer, I can probably work it out for myself. Regards Jus

  3. I created a back up of one of my gaming dvds by using ImgBurn to create an ISO file from the dvd. I successfully completed the process, but when I try to test the ISO image by selecting the setup.exe file from the ISO, it gives the following error: "error reading setup initialization file." Is there a workaround to this? Any help would be appreciated. The ImgBurn log is uploaded as an attachment. (I deleted my earlier post but it still shows up for some reason). ImgBurn Log.log
  4. Hi every1 i want to create an iso of a dual layer dvd with DVDFab Platinum. Will the original position of the layer break automatically be kept if i burn the iso onto a dl verbatim with imgburn? Thx for any response
  5. Under "Tools", I see "Create DVD MDS File", but nothing above that as seen in the screen shot. Is this a feature for future versions? Thanks for any help! On another note, it's ironic that this guide is posted today because just earlier I burned a few Christmas CDs (using CDs for the first time in years) and learned that just converting FLAC into WAVs and burning it onto a disc will not work, so I came here looking for an answer. Good timing!
  6. There is a free version of Alcohol 120% where I think the only limitation is it can't burn images to discs. But, what you could try is mount the MDS in Alcohol and use ImgBurn to create a new image set with an image format that would support multiple tracks. That may work.
  7. Hi all.... I am attempting to create a bootable CD. I have a bootable floppy disk (DOS, Ghost, etc). I also have a image of the floppy disk that I created some time ago with RawWriteWin. Since none of the laptops we buy these days have a floppy drive, I would love to be able to create a bootable CD based off of this floppy disk... I am confused on the steps to do this.... Thanks much! David
  8. hi i recently tried adding different ibf/vob files together to create a new copy of mixed video files from different sources. i created a video_ts folder in my desktop. i then opened up different sources i had copied and added files from each to the folder. it goes well, except it won't accept the same numbered files in the same folder, even though the file is a totally different one. if you could find a way to make these files co-exist in the same video_ts folder to then build or burn w/imgburn that would be awesome. i guess you would have to manipulate imgburn so that it won't reject same numbered files w/different footage.
  9. I created an image of a data CD (my XP installation disc) using ImgBurn, and then created two more images of the same disc with IsoBuster (one User Data, the other RAW). Both User Data ISO's were exactly the same (ie. 591MB and same MD5), but the RAW image was a fair bit larger (ie. 678MB). Why does ImgBurn create ISO's from User Data instead of RAW, or does it depend on the source disc (ie. sometimes it will use User Data, other times RAW) ?
  10. I rarely do Blu-Ray to container conversions but I do have access to a BD movie that was one a BD-50. I will create a container from it and see what results I get. I'll let you know when it completes, as I expect it to take some time. It's really interesting how life tries to trick you. After swapping back in the WH16NS60, I had a DVD+RW fail on me. Now, knowing this disc had been written to before, before I panicked, I tried a 2nd DVD+RW. It wrote and Verified fine. So, it just happened to choose that exact moment for the other DVD+RW to die on me in a blatant attempt to try and trick me. Yeah, looks like it's going to take over an hour. I'm creating an MKV from 1 hour, 43 minutes, and 16 seconds worth of main movie. I'm using Handbrake, set at Fast 1080p30, with 1 audio track, English DTS 5.1 channel, and 1 subtitle track, English. Only 1 Pass. Theoretically, using Fast over any of the HQ settings will result in a smaller file size. I guess I should have used Very Fast to minimize file size and time execution, but this should still be a good indicator once it finishes. And the results are in: 6.81 GB! So, is it possible to get under 1 GB? Yes. But, it requires a lot of compression. It would depend on the codec you're using, and it also means you're sacrificing video quality to get that small a size.

  12. Yes I think it can be used along containers as long as the software supports it. You mean that totally irrelevant to CD ripping you opened a pdf file and now Windows Media Player is corrupt? Their not the only game in town. Use that pwer2go. It rips CDs lovely to audio, Flac, Ape, and mp3. It also rips audio tracks out of videos. I ripped Thor Ragnarok's audio out as it was nice. CDex also is great and has that online service to fetch the info iykwim. I use any of those to then use Imgburn and create a .cue file. Very handy for suported playback on most devices. I do use WMP to fetch all my info and to rip to mp3.
  13. Can ImgBurn create ISOs of Mac Formatted DVDs? I would like to backup some Mac Software CDs to ISO images.
  14. I'm trying to create an ISO of the entirety of my Windows 10 computer which currently has about 34 Gb of files including the operating system. The size is inevitably going to expand considerably. But instead of creating an ISO which includes ALL of what is there now, it shorts out at about 4 Gb which is basically the same as the Windows CreatMedia software pointed to as the boot information. How can I get the ISO that I need with *everything* included. I keep reading there are no limits on the size of the ISO to be created but after several tries the maximum size keeps bombing out at 4 Gb.
  15. Thank you for all of your reply!! 3 BD-XL disc are from the same box!!! Which buy from Amazon Japan! Maybe I need to buy another box for test!! 2 ISO images are create by myself by a ASUS Drive!! They are create by different software!! I burn them by Pioneer and Asus, But both Fail with Write Error!! So, It's not likely both Burner fail at the same time!! It's not an OS problem!! It's most likely to be a Verbatim BD-XL disc quality problem!! Right? I burn a lot (Over 200) BD-XL disc!! It's the first time I see this error on BD-XL! 16. I was in the process of replying earlier, but once I saw it was doing the same thing on 2 different drives, I decided not to post. It shouldn't be dependent on if you installed the Windows 10 1903 Refresh or not. And it seems highly unlikely that 2 different drives would die at the same time. You said you used them for 2 years, which is pretty good for an optical drive, but not unheard of for Pioneers. So, maybe they both died simultaneously, but unlikely. So, where does that leave us? The most common denominator is the image file you're trying to burn. Did you create it or did you download it from somewhere? If you didn't create it yourself, the image file may be damaged. Even then, though, that generally doesn't result in write errors. Write errors are the result of either the drive, the disc you're trying to burn to, or a combination of both. However, at this point, I'd try what LUK recommended. Trying these drives in another PC and see if you get the same results. Also, as LUK said, are these 3 discs from the same stack/box? And is this a new box? Or have you successfully used them before?
  17. I was attempting to burn Gran Turismo 4 to a DVD+R DL disc. It requires an MDS file which contains the layer break information, but the image didn't come with it. So I loaded it with PCSX2 (PS2 emulator), and the console said the second layer was found at sector 0x001a2240 (1,712,704) Then I tried to create an MDS file, but to do so, ImgBurn needed the LBA address of the second layer. I just want to know how to convert the sector number to an LBA address! (And can I just use the sector number as the layer break point?) Please help!
  18. I am new to this so it should be a simple problem. I want to burn my 1.3 GB shortfilm in double layer since I have heard it has better image quality than single layer (?), but when I press the write button no create layer break position box appears. Instead I get this: This image doesn?t need to go on a double layer disc, it will fit on a DVD+-R/RW just fine. Would you like to continue anyway? When I choose Tools -> ISO -> IFO layer break position, an open file box appears.. ? Do I have to create an ISO first on the hard drive? I only have a Audio, Video TS folder with the burning information.
  19. I created the .ISO file using "save ISO to hard drive" with Cirlinca DVD-Audio Solo 1.6.3, a program that makes proper DVD-Audio and not just a video that plays music... If it's of any help I have attached a screenshot of the same files I burned "straight to DVD+RDL" using the Cirlinca program instead of first using the program to create .ISO to hard drive then burn with ImgBurn, so I guess the files in the ISO would be the same files you see on the DVD that Cirlinca wrote the original files straight to?, I don't know about this sort of stuff.... The DVD Cirlinca burned VIDEO_TS says empty, you can see screenshot attached of the DVD layout as it's in my DVD drive. No I'm not using 'Build', I'm selecting "Write" the .ISO file on my desktop, that's the correct way to do it isn't it?, it works if I write to single layer DVD, but like I said I want to put it to a dual layer DVD. Here's the DVD Cirlinca burned files straight to DVD, I think the .ISO would be the same?....
  20. You shouldn't be getting layer break settings set at all if it really does fit on a DVD-5. About the only thing I can think of that might fix this is to create a new ISO that is a DVD-9. Add some extra files to pad out the size of the ISO so it will need a DVD-9. If that doesn't fix the problem, I don't know what is causing it. You're just importing a VIDEO_TS folder into a Build job and creating an ISO and that's the ISO you're trying to burn, right? Did you create the ISO first or are you using on the fly disc creation?
  21. The basic idea is to add a "Create ISO" menu item when right clicking on a CD drive. The feature would function in two ways Right Click - Opens ImgBurn in read mode - Sets the name to the disks label name Right Click + Drag and drop - Opens ImgBurn in read mode - Sets the name to the disks label name - Sets the path to the folder the user let go on - Starts the ISO creation process I think this would be a great time saver in the same way that the context menus for WinZip and 7-Zip do something similar for extracting or creating archives.
  22. Just as I thought. It's most likely junk media. Here's your problem: I 14:25:38 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: CMCMAG-BA5-000) You may be using Verbatim BD-R but this is the 2nd time I've seen foreign, e.g. outside of the US, Verbatim BD-R that is so called DataLife Plus that is not DataLife Plus but CMC garbage. In the US, there is no such thing as DataLife Plus Verbatim BD-R. It's all just BD-R and none of it is CMC. It appears outside of the US, Verbatim is trying to screw over their customers. The only solution is try something else, like Panasonic BD-R, if they make it. TDK may make BD-R and if they do it may be good, but TDK does make BD-RE that is CMC junk. You could always try importing Verbatim BD-R from the US. The other person I saw with this problem on the board imported the good stuff from the US to solve their problem. Oh, IC what you're saying about the data Blu-Ray. It's not a Blu-Ray Video you're playing. You're playing the folder contents via your player's browser. This won't present you with a menu like a Blu-Ray Video disc will. It seems this TMpegEnc software is not generating compliant BD Video content. This is inferring that TMpegEnc even creates a menu for its BD Video content. It may just start playing with the first chapter. I don't create BD Video so I can't say what to do at this point. Of course, why it doesn't start playing when you have the disc inserted as a BD Video, I couldn't say.
  23. Hi, I just downloaded ImgBurn. I have an ISO file (image) on my PC. Can ImgBurn create a CD from the ISO file? I'm not talking about copying the ISO file to the CD but actually create a CD from the image. Thanks! Edited to add: never mind, I figured it out!
  24. I've got a large collection of DVD-Rs that I need to create .iso files for. I'm using a Nimbie. Is there a custom naming option for the .iso files (rather than using the DVD title) as the name? I'd like to have the .iso files numbered sequentially as they rip. Is this possible? Mike
