jcws6 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) I'm trying to burn a 7.93GB ISO to a Verbatim DL disc with a Samsung SH-S203B (SATA, DL-capable) burner. I've never had any trouble burning anything with ImgBurn before, but this is the first time I've tried to burn a DL disc. When I tried to burn it, the progress went to 50%, then I got the error shown. If I click "Try Again," the same error comes up. If I click "Continue," a new error with the same general format comes up. What's wrong? Edited April 23, 2009 by jcws6
mmalves Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Please post the log from that burn (look in ImgBurn's Help menu). You should also update your burner's firmware to the latest version (remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before updating then reboot the computer after the updating is finished).

FYI - I was trying to burn a backup copy of one of my old PS2 games. I haven't had a problem with the DVD5 games, but this is the first DVD9 game I tried. Here's the log from that session: I 16:29:01 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 16:29:01 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 16:29:01 Total Physical Memory: 4,192,720 KB - Available: 1,292,168 KB I 16:29:01 Initialising SPTI... I 16:29:01 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 16:29:20 Found 1 DVD-ROM, 1 DVD
mmalves Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Yes, it was a bad burn. Update the firmware and try again. Also update ImgBurn to the latest version

jcws6 Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 I updated my burner firmware & reburned the DL disc at a slower speed. The burn completed with no errors, which was a plus. Thanks for the advice!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Actually, 4x used to be more reliable for me on my SH-S203B. Updating the firmware would have helped though.
