Error msg. "Failed to set Write parameters"

Hi I am Barry, first time on this forum. I have ImgBurn 2.4.4.0 and I am trying to "Write Image file to Disk" . I am trying to put a .ISO file to CD. Even if I go to the settins under tools and on the two write tab pages set=defaults... When I start the "Write Image to Disk " I get a message "Failed to set write parameters". Under mode... write is checked ? I cannot find any message listings of explanations anywhere? Is there a place that explains ImgBurn messages?

Can you tell me what I need to do to create my CD??

Note: I used ImgBurn once before at a different release level to Write this same kind of .ISO to Disk and I didn't have to set any write parameters; it just took off and wrote the CD, no problems.

HELP ! Barry

Open the log file (in Notepad or whatever) and select the relevant part with the mouse. Just copy + paste that bit.

To be honest, it really doesn't matter if you send me more, I'll just figure it out myself. The main thing is to get me the log!

Your drive is ancient by the looks of it and probably doesn't support the 'SAO' write type.

Is that the only drive you have?

Try changing the 'Write Type' to 'TAO' in the settings if it is. That's the legacy format and should work ok.

MANY THANKS, "Lightning UK". You were right on about the CD drive setting. I guess the previous versions of ImgBurn the setting defaulted to TAO; since I did NOT have to set any write parameters when I previously used ImgBurn.

I set the TAO and it took off and created my Image CD with NO problems !

My PC is a Compaq Presario (purchased in 2000) HA! BUT it does everything I need to do !

THANKS again, for a GREAT product and very "professional" help.

No, the default has always been SAO.

A good few versions ago, ImgBurn used to fall back to TAO if SAO failed... now it doesn't (it was just getting too messy).

btw, the write parameters aren't something YOU set/send, it's an internal command that ImgBurn sends to the drive. The 'Write Type' setting just manipulates one little bit of those parameters (the one that makes it use either SAO or TAO).

Hi Lightning UK,

THANKS for the good info. All I know is the last time (about 6-8 months ago) I did the same "image to disk" operation and I did NOTHING with "write parameters" and got no error messages; just a good created CD.

I am sure the ImgBurn I used then is not the same 2.4.4.0 I am now useing.

THANKS again, Barry
