I am trying to burn the latest Nav file on a disc. I have Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x that I am trying to burn it on. I have tried using Imgburn two different ways:

1) I downloaded the .iso file and tried burning it through imgburn. The files seemed to have been burned ok, but my car won't recognize the disc.

2) I bought the disc from someone else (who conicidentally used the same type of disc) and that worked in my car. I copied the files from that disc on to my Hard drive and then tried burning using imgburn. Once again, the disc burned but my car won't read that disc!

I am using a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841S dvd drive on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. What am I doing wrong??

Please read the pink banner at the top of this page

I did and have tried the method(s). I have wasted 3 DVD's in trying to burn the data and the disc still won't read in my car!! Need some help.

Where's the log from when you've burned the ISO? Look in ImgBurn's Help menu.

Your drive doesn't appear to booktype to DVD-ROM.

Matshita drives are rubbish.

You're using an old version of ImgBurn.

Well, I'm kinda stuck with matishta since it came with laptop. So does it mean that downloading to a newer version of imgburn won't help??

I went to the imgburn website and the say ver. 2.4.4.0 is the latest. That is what I have..so now I am confused..

Ignore that, I edited my post because it was an error on my part.

You're burning with the latest but the image was built with an older version.

So then how do I get the latest version to build the image with? Will that ensure that it reads the discs? These DL discs are getting expensive to work with.

I am trying to burn the latest Nav file on a disc.

my car won't recognize the disc.

These are PTP discs. They are made totally differently from normal data or video disks (the disk is read from the inside out on both layers, whereas all media is OTP = read from the inside out on layer 0 and then from the outside in on layer 1. Consequently, the sector references are all messed up on layer 1).

Don't waste your time or money trying to copy them.

Well, I don't know much about PTP discs. However, I need to burn this disc for someone else. So if someone else was able to burn this..then why can't I?

Well, PTP is the reason things have gone bad. The original disc is read in a different way.

Sometimes, you just can't do it. Tell your friend to buy his own disc.

Where's the disc that DOES work?

Put that in the drive and copy + paste all the disc info from the panel on the right when you're in Read mode.
