lordFRZA Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 ok I know someone is going to direct me to read another post, but in my defence I have searched and I AM using verbatim. this is my first ever dual layer burn and I followed Lightning UK!'s Guide and I keep gettingthis error: "set L0 Data Zone Capacity failed reason power calibration area error" here is the log. I 17:11:17 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! I 17:11:17 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 17:11:17 Total Physical Memory: 1,571,836 KB - Available: 911,424 KB I 17:11:17 Initialising SPTI... mmalves Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I 20:48:21 Destination Device: [3:1:0] HP DVD Writer 1040d EH23 (E:) (ATA)I 20:48:21 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) (Speeds: 2.4x) Where are your Verbatim blanks made? Singapore? India? It's printed in the box/spindle/packaging. If you've cleaned the drive's lens and it still can't burn the best dual-layer media then your burner is defective or something. You could ask HP for a firmware update (it really needs one) or you could get a decent burner like a Pioneer or Optiarc for little more than a 20-disc Verbatim spindle
lordFRZA Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) Singapore I will look into firmware from hp right now...... .......Nothing on the site. Emailed them and now waiting on a response. Edited June 17, 2009 by lordFRZA
lordFRZA Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 response was grim. No firmware. No updates. So I guess it's a new writer. I was looking at some of those brands listed above. Where is a good place to get a good one and not get hosed? Should I go to a store or order online? I was leaning more towards a store. It is quicker and all.
mmalves Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 If your HP drive is out of warranty and/or you can't return it, I would try this: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/changing-hp-d...-liteon-225961/
lordFRZA Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 I flashed the drive and still got the same error log: I 21:57:39 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! xXMaKkXx Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I just reformatted my computer and now i can't burn any games. Anyone have any ideas? I was burning just fine before I formatted, now it's giving my the kind of error i got when my other burners would crap out. I 08:31:02 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! You might also want to try a lens cleaning disc on that drive.
xXMaKkXx Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 (edited) This worked perfectly two days ago. I reformatted and now it's not working. Ok so the craziest thing just happened. I thought maybe restarting it would work, so i did. then i changed the book type to my LG type drive. It hung up for a second at 50% but then it completed. (maybe just a bad disc?)
