Find out the chipset used on your motherboard and then visit their website and get the latest chipset drivers.

To find out which one you're using, load up device manager and look in the 'system' branch.

You'll see a bunch of entries by the same manufacturer - i.e. Intel......, Via......, SIS......., NVIDIA........ etc.

I d/l the utility and it did give me something like 18 updates, however when I go to install them it says the same thing as my firmware problem. I have burned a lot of DVD's before but as you can tell I'm not good at upating my motherboard or firmware. Can anyone help?

Yeah, it looks like it might be an LG-based drive. The emergency eject hole is to the right.

is to the left, exactly in the middle or slightly to the right?

Because I would guess that the 640b is a LG drive based on HP's naming scheme and the firmware version (E152).

damn confusing, they used a liteon too

it's a real nightmare when cdfreaks doesn't have the answer

or gives the wrong one

640I can be a b or c made by liteon, benq or LG

????????????????
