bootleg Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 After updating firmware, using Sony external DRU-710UL, and Verbatim 2.5X DL +R discs, still having problems. The burn will get about 44-53% percent dont than just stop. The computer doesn't freeze but the program just stops moving forward. Image burn doesn't lock up it just stops and th only option is to cancel the burn. In an earlier topic i had another problem where it seemed it was the firmware was outdated. The other suggestion was to get a new burner......Is that really my only option? I thought this was a good burner. Any additional help would awesome, that doesnt cost anymore $$$. No log attached as it doesnt produce errors and couldn't copy for some reason. PS. i've tried burnng at 2X and 4X with same results Thank you ALL
mmalves Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 If your burner can't burn the best dual-layer media on the market then it's defective. It could be dirty lenses, but in another post you said you've cleaned them already and it didn't help. As a last attempt, try using that burner on another computer(s).
bootleg Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 If it helps here's the most recent log I 09:14:01 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! I 09:14:01 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 09:14:01 Total Physical Memory: 522,732 KB - Available: 186,632 KB I 09:14:01 Initialising SPTI... I 09:14:01 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 09:14:01 Found 2 DVD
mmalves Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 When it freezes is the disc still spinning? Were you able to close ImgBurn without disconnecting the burner?
bootleg Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 actually no, and no...Image burn gets locked up and i have to end task or disconnect burner.... If it is burner that sucks which one should i buy? Hopefully that's last case scenario though
mmalves Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 I think the best option would be a Pioneer 116/117 (or 216/217) in an external enclosure of your choice
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Turn the drive off and on again when it gets stuck, it might recover if you're lucky
bootleg Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 currentlyi'm burning it on my Hp Pavilion internal burner that i don't think suppports DL burns, but it's made it further in the burn than my external...it's about 55% done, i'll let ya know the outcome. The Pioneer discussed earlier, will the DVR-X162Q6PK 20X external Pioneer suffice?
Cynthia Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 You can see if it supports DL burns by using this function: Main Menu -> Tools -> Drive -> Capabilities
