Hello Everyone....

I'm new at this, so please go easy.

I've checked the FAQ and guides and can't find anything to help me set up Imgburn to convert .bin to DVD. I keep getting the error msg saying 'your image doesn't appear to be of the correct format for burning to DVD.'

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum, alistairdale! :)

What's in the .bin file?

If the .bin file can fit on a CD, why spend the extra money to have it on a DVD disc?

Hi Cynthia....

Thanks for the warm welcome

It's a movie about 802Mb I think. I've never had a problem before with burning movies but I they have always been .avi. This is the first time I've come across a .bin.

Okay... so I used www.7-zip.org and split the .bin into two .bin (650Mb & 152Mb).

I then try to use the build function and both files and burned it to disc.

I'm sure I've done something wrong because I now have 2 .bin files burn to DVD and no movie.

1 disc down.

Any ideas of what to do from here?

In 7-zip

Right click on the .bin file and select the sub menu item 'Unpack to <foldername>

It doesn't work with all .bin files.

You should really just open the bin with something like IsoBuster before messing around too much and see what it contains.

If it's a VCD/SVCD then it needs to go on a CD... but you'd also then need the CUE file really.

Hi LIGHTING UK.

thanks for the input......

Maybe a silly question but as I'm new to this I'm going to ask anyway. If I put it on CD will I still be able to use it in a DVD play? Also is there a way of compressing .bin to that i can get the .bin and .cue file on a CD of 700Mb?

Cheers

Depends on what is on the final burned CD - if it's an .avi file and your DVD player can play it, then yes.

You also need a 99 min CDs to burn it, as you can't compress the .bin.

It sounds like I will have to try get my hands on 99min CD to be able to watch this .bin through my TV.

Thank you very much for all the time and help.

It's appreciated.

Any chance you could open the bin in IsoBuster and get us a screenshot?

You could also try mounting it in something like Virtual CloneDrive or DAEMON Tools.

Even loading the image in ImgBurn's Write mode would provide us a bit more info about it and the 'Image Information' button/screen would give us even more.
