I think you will find this for yourself when I tell you my previous problems with burning dvds. So, I've bought countless Dvd-R's and Dvd+rw's in hope that I can successfully burn a dvd. I (ignorantly thought) that I could just burn it the way you burn a CD, go to Slsk (a p2p program, such as: winmx, torrent, limewire, whatever prog you use to dl) and dl an mp3 (in this case an .avi) and burn it on a cd (in this case a DVD disk) using Windows Media Player (which is what I use to burn my cds) and viola, I have a Dvd I can play on my dvd player and watch it on tv. BUT, wrong! It never worked out for me. I knew I was missing something, I must be, since no matter what I was never able to play it on my dvd player, but I could watch it on my pc. I started to blame my dvd player, but when I tried the disks on so many, I realized it must be the way I was burning it that was flawed. So I googled, did some research and realized I first had to convert the .avi file into a .vob file. I then went on a spree, dling Dvd Flick, CDburnerEx, RZ DVD Creator (only to find that it wasn't freeware), and finally ImgBurn. Since ImgBurn is my last attempt, I decided to stick with it and find out how to fix my problem instead of continuing to dl in vain a lot of other software. Now, I don't even know what my problem is. Could someone be kind enough to tell me step by step, how I convert the .avi into an .iso, and then burn it into my dvd. So either buy some different (better) discs (and not rewritable ones if you can help it) or get a new drive that supports your current discs.
