Help please

Please excuse my total ignorance i am a real beginner.

 

I have downloaded some particular dvd files and want to transfer onto a dvd disk tp play on my dvd player.

 

I can watch files on my pc - av1 or windows media player-but despie a dozen wasted efforts i cannot get it to play on my dvd player

 

Other files have worked but not the ones i really want.i am sure its reallly basic but cannot get my head around what may be wrong ?

 

I probably havent explained very well but please can someone advise ?

what type of files are they?

 

avi / wmv / ifo / bup / vob ???
