c210flyer Posted September 8, 2009 Share Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) I created a large (Acronis) backup of a system prior to upgrading to a new computer. I then divided the backup into 4.37 GB (4,698,669,056 Bytes) files using Winrar. I then proceeded to burn the individual files to DVD-R media using ImgBurn. Unfortunately I decided to use the ISO9660 + Joliet formats instaed of UDF and I checked the "Allow Files Exceeding Size Limit" option in the Advanced/Restrictions/ISO9660 tab, after reading that the WHOLE file will be written to the disk even though the size will say 4 GB. When I extract the image back to disk, the ISO image size is indeed 4.37 GB. However, all methods I tried (and I tried a lot, including ISOBuster, IMGBurn Read, etc.) to extract the RAR file from the image only give me a 4GB truncated file! Any idea how I can recover the original file? I'm sure the information is there I just don't know how to get to it. TIA for your help. Steve P.S. Posted September 8, 2009 Share Posted September 8, 2009 Your only option is to read the entire bunch of sectors (i.e a range of them) from the start LBA of the file to the end of the disc (or start of the next file if there is one).
