ethierfan Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hello, I not really great on a computer but I've managed to work this program so far. I've been backing up Xbox 360 games onto both Verbatim DVD+R DL lightscribe discs and Memorex DVD+R DL discs and they usually go through fine except now that I've upgraded the newer version of imgburn I keep getting these new errors. I 06:59:43 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! I 06:59:43 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium x64 Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 06:59:43 Total Physical Memory: 4,060,816 KB - Available: 2,564,656 KB W 06:59:43 SPTD can have a detrimental effect on drive performance. LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 The last one is nothing to do with the update. It's your drive crapping out on the media you're using. The first two are though and the reason you haven't seen them before is because they're new. Note that they're Warning messages, not 'Error' messages. Number 1 means you have DAEMON Tools / Alcohol installed - which in turn has installed the SPTD driver. SPTD slows down I/O on some systems with some drives (meaning it's slower to read/verify discs etc). Number 2 means you've picked a speed your drive doesn't actually support. You can see the supported write speeds in the disc info text on the right (and in the log window) and 1x isn't one of them.

It didn't have a problem closing and finalising yesterday afternoon when I burned a disc. I know it has nothing to do with imgburn but is there any way to check the settings on my driver? Also if I delete the Alcohol 120% would it delete the SPTD driver?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Yes, your drive/firmware/media combo is messing up. The software has no say on how the burn goes, all is does is keep feeding data to the drive. Your drive might prefer burning that media at 6x or 8x rather than 4x it's currently using. The other option is to try cleaning it with a cleaning disc. Nope, you need to uninstall those apps (DT and Alcohol) and then take the driver off manually. If you download the actual driver installer from the duplex secure website ( www.duplexsecure.com ), you'll be given the option to uninstall it when you run it.
ethierfan Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Worked perfectly thank you. The only other thing that happens sometimes is that when I go to start to burn a disc I get this one. What suggestions would you have for this one? If it's a new drive that I would need would you be able to provide links to a site where I can purchase one? I'm located in the USA, thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it.

Cynthia Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 If you are planning on burning +R single layer media with it, I wouldn't buy it. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=7860
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Plus shouldn't you get the 324 or 424 rather than that one? The 324 seems to be getting most of the firmware updates of late so I guess it's their 'high priority' drive (probably due to sales).
