facugaich Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I have this ISO image of a DVD Video and I'd like to add some other (non video) files to the DVD root before burning it to a Verbatim DVD+ DL disc. I have read the guides on how to do burn DVD Video data to DL, but I'm not sure if adding these extra files will somehow affect its playability on DVD players. I'm guessing the image I currently have has .ifo files that are somehow related to the layer break position on the original DVD, so I DO have to choose a new position when burning with the extra files right? Will ImgBurn take care of updating those .ifo files? Finally, will my DVD player still be able to play it, even when the extra files are there?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Yes it'll work fine and ImgBurn will take care of updating the IFO files. Once the 'source' bit within Build mode is configured how you want it, click the 'Calculate' button and it'll do a dummy pass where you'll then be able to see your options for the layer break.
facugaich Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 Hi again, thanks for your reply, but I've ran into a problem. In Write-files-to-image mode I chose the folder which contains the VIDEO_TS folder along with the other files (which happen to be DivX Avi's, so it gave me the option to create a DivX DVD, which I refused). I clicked Calculate Image Size but it told me it couldn't find a suitable cell for the layer break. I'm guessing this is because the data takes up almost all the space (only ~55 MB left)... Is there anything else I can do besides freeing some space? What will happen if I ignore this warning and burn it as it is? P.S.: Is the Level 1 8.3 Format file name necessary for DVD Video discs? facugaich Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Hi Cynthia, thanks for the link. What does VobBlanker do, exactly? Does it split cells? (EDIT: Duh, it does, I should've read the instructions more closely) Are there any drawback associated? Would you recommend freeing some space instead of doing something like this? Edited September 27, 2009 by facugaich
Cynthia Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 VobBlanker do what you used to do on the old type writers when you set an additional tab mark. In modern times it's now called "split cells". You will not notice any playback differences when you split cells. Freeing some space will most likely just trigger ImgBurn to ask the same question again - this time at a new desired split point. Converting files to DVD usually makes you end up with very few cells in the final DVD material - that's why ImgBurn can't find a good splitting point between two existing cells.
