LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 4x might not be the optimal speed for that drive/firmware/media combo. Try one of the faster speeds it says it supports.
Rico R. Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Thank you for your quick reply I tryed a few more discs since yesterday and 1 of the 3 I tryed finished with no erors at all but the other 2 was just with the same problem again. i will try a faster speed i just dont know, the quality stays the same ?? and most important will my xbox-360 read it like it should ?? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
Cynthia Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 The 118/218 series are a new generation of drives and the first firmware version seems to lack good support for various media. Hopefully they fix it in future firmware versions. The performed write speed should have no effect on the playback as long as it burns ok. Only way to know how good quality it burns with is to use a scanning program like DVDInfoPro or OptiDriveControl.
Rico R. Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD INFO I WILL TRY IT
Rico R. Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Hi Cynthia I tryed both of the sotware's (DVDInfoPro & OptiDriveControl) and both of them cant make the media test for me, i'm guessing that the probem is: no support for this drive yet during Disc Quality Test OptiDriveControl say's: (eror, code 052400) during Scan test DVDInfoPro just stop's after Spin Up my other burner have no support in both software's unlucky for me CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE "OPC" OPTION SHOULD BE ON OR OFF ? MAYBE IT CAN HELP ME BURN WITHOUT THE EROR ? THANK YOU ALL
Cynthia Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Older drives might have a problem with OPC, that's why it's off by default. For your burner it should work to have it enabled. I have it enabled and my feelings (and to few test comparisons) is that it it gives a little bit better burns with it enabled.
Rico R. Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 4x might not be the optimal speed for that drive/firmware/media combo. Try one of the faster speeds it says it supports. i did try to burn faster than 4x, i tryed 6x i tried every speed possible i tryed with OPC-ON i tryed with OPTIMAL WRITING SPEED-ON but whatever i do it's changing to 4x automatically, and the eror remain nothing seems to work for the "PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-218L 1.00" can i do anything to fix it maybe some settings ? or am i just wasting everybody's time and i should buy an older pioneer burner. and can someone please tell me does the discs i burned with the eror (can see in my first post) are any good or this problem is serious and i should throw them ??????
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 'Optimal Writing Speed' probably wouldn't apply to the 218 as it's not a true Pioneer, it's a LiteOn.
