ImgBurn is a great program, well-supported, and definitely under-appreciated within the community. The fact that this is the first time in many years of use that I've felt the need to post means this program is definitely of a higher caliber than most (even more surprising because it's free). Secondly, I do not think this is an ImgBurn problem. I've been unable to make an image of this disc with ImgBurn, ISO Recorder, and even (gag) MagicISO. If you could help me, I would be eternally grateful. The issue is that the read starts out correctly, but quickly spirals into a string the following error: W 09:39:46 Retry Failed - Reason: Illegal Mode For This Track Another programs (I think Nero) has reported the disc as a copyrighted disc, but even AnyDVD wouldn't help me get around that. The disc itself is an update disc for a software program. It has no serial number protection or anything. In fact, I wouldn't even call it an update disc, as it installs a new, clean version of the program. It only works with a particular piece of hardware. I'm assuming the disc is not damaged, as it's brand new, and I can copy all the files off it without any read errors. I've also tried setting the read speed down in every program, hoping that would help. It doesn't. Here is the error log. You'll see an error about AnyDVD, but the errors were the same before it was installed (however, I can uninstall it and get you a new log, if that would help). If you can drag them all off, can't you just make a new image? Ok so it won't be 1:1 then but perhaps it doesn't need to be? What happens if you just ignore the read error (click continue/ignore) ? No visible hidden folders, but definitely some padding going on. The sum of the files is 79.3MB, both through browsing the disc as well as after copying to the HDD. Right-clicking the disc drive itself shows 110MB of 209MB used (mini CD). If you can drag them all off, can't you just make a new image? Ok so it won't be 1:1 then but perhaps it doesn't need to be? That's what I'm going to try next. However, I assumed that if they went through that much trouble to copyright/pad the disc, then it probably wouldn't install. Basically, it takes them 2-3 weeks to send out this update disc to customers. A friend (out of state) wants it sooner. I didn't want to go through the hassle mailing it to him, so I thought I'd make a simple .iso. Guess not. What happens if you just ignore the read error (click continue/ignore) ? Not in ImgBurn, but in other programs. The result is an image, but when you mount it (Daemon Tools or Virtual Clone CD), it says something about an unusable structure. I will try in ImgBurn and report what happens. ***EDIT*** Tried copying with ignoring read errors. Still showed them, but got the happy "completed" music. Image was about 97MB (somewhere between what the files and the disc properties showed). Tried mounting with Daemon Tools and got this: Unable to mount image. Invalid flag for DATA track.
