LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 4x, 6x and 8x are the 'supported' speeds on that media. You've already tried 4x (by selecting 1x), so try the remaining 2 options. If they don't work, try cleaning the drive or buying better discs - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

The disks I have purchased tons of people use, I was recommended them by a friend who says they are excellent for backing up 360 games: http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?nav=1&product=BULKPAQ052&title=Bulkpaq+DVD%2BR+DL+Branded+CMC+%2825+Pack%29 I think it's the Drive to be honest, what is the best drive you can recommend for me to get? Thank you
spinningwheel Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 (Disc ID: CMC MAG-D03-64) They may work fine for your friend, but they are among the worst discs manufactured right now. Since the drive is brand new, checkyour firmware and give this http://forum.imgburn...?showtopic=8000 a try as LUK suggested.

Could anyone recommend me a good Pioneer Dual Layer burner?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I doubt you'll find any now, Pioneer ODD division pulled out of the UK market (maybe Europe actually). Try an Optiarc or latest model LiteOn instead.

mmalves Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Look for updated drivers for your motherboard's chipset and/or SATA controller(s). Use SIW if you don't know their brand/model. Also make sure you're using the latest BIOS for your motherboard. You might want to try another SATA cable and other SATA ports, as there seems to be communication problems.

I think it may possibly be this, thank you for your help my friend, I shall see if there is any problems there, as I thought it could be like a BIOS update issue. Many thanks, I shall report back with my findings!

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 You might find you have more luck at 8x - that is what those discs are designed for after all.
