tray doesnt recognize dvd-r disks?

hi all, im trying to make a windows 7 disk to install on a new hardrive

the brand of disk im using is a magnavox DVD-R

i hit write image file to disk, select the windows7 iso

after a bit at the bottom left of the window the little message says Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present)

i dont think it is an img burn problem only as roxio and other programs seem to not realize there is a disk in the tray

 

what do i need to do to fix this

i attached a pic of my dvd tray, is it that it isnt capable of burning?

You can only burn CD media. Not DVDs.

ahhh ok so its just the tray then, atleast i do have another computer and

it says on the tray "dvd-r RW" does that mean it can burn?

Look in the log and see if it mentions DVD+-R in the device scan bit.

Then you should be able to burn a DVD.
