genocide112 Posted December 3, 2009 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Hi guys, I recently invested in the Samsung SH-S223C in order to burn 360 backups...its been a nightmare since. I configured everything correctly, layer breaks and such, but it gets in excess of 50 write retries in every burn and the log keeps showing "Buggy sense area detected" and showing the location on the disk that the error was caused by... At first, it was terrible, I couldn't burn a game because it would freeze at burning 0KB/S halfway through. So I thought to myself that upgrading the firmware might do the trick! Well, it now burns games fully, still getting the same write errors but 3 in the last 12 attempts have been successful, so I have 9 coasters so far. I am using Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL discs as recommended by almost every article I found on the subject, which are renowned for their high quality dual layer media. If I attempt to burn at 4x it fails miserably, but ive managed a few clean copies with 6x. Could anybody advise me as to what may be causing this? Is this just a horrendous disc drive? After this it doesnt let me cancel the burn or anything it just keeps going, one of them I had left it when i left for work, came back and it had been burning for over 10 hours at 0KB/s The above log is one I have just tried, it froze at 52% but it varies, the biggest failure I saw was 2%, then the closest to completion was 92% I have a funny feeling it may just be the drive!
