Murder Happy Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Hey, I'm having trouble trying to burn an ISO onto a DL DVD. All firmware is up to date, I tried disabling IMAPI, burning on all speeds and it burns standard DVD+R just fine. Bought a bunch of these Memorex because a friend uses them for the same purpose. Cynthia Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, Murder Happy! Have you tried some of the other write speeds like 4, 6 and 8x? That model of Lite-On is a bit tricky with certain brands of DL media and Ritek based media is not the of the best quality.

mmalves Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Try burning at 6x and 8x. If it doesn't work at first then use a lens cleaning disc on that drive and try again.
Murder Happy Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Try burning at 6x and 8x. If it doesn't work at first then use a lens cleaning disc on that drive and try again. Thanks for the suggestions, have already removed the drive and wiped the lens manually. Also, this is for Xbox 360 backups so even if burning at faster speeds works, it doesn't really help me.
mmalves Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Using the slowest burn speed doesn't always result in a better burn quality, which is all what the console cares about. Those Verbatim blanks are rated for 8x burning and newer burners like yours are tuned for faster burns.

Everything I've ever read about backing them up just saying to burn at 2x. I'll give that a try, as well as borrowing another burner to try on that. I WILL NOT BE BEATEN BY YOU COMPUTER
Murder Happy Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Well, burning the Verbatims at 4x and 8x failed to a write error about 45-49% of the way though that subsequently locked up my computer, so no logs. The old Toshiba drive I borrowed wouldn't even read the disks. At 6x the burn completed but failed during verify, the game would boot up to the menu but then couldn't read it.
