Since a couple of weeks my discs from different DVD+R brands are wrongly recognized in imgburn as RW. When I burn a dvd imgburn wants to format the disc and I end up with a coaster. OS is windows 7 ultimate. What I tried: I installed DVDindentifier, this program reads the discs correctly as DVD+R. Imgburn reads the discs as DVD+RW, I tried other brands of discs and got the same problem. I have two Samsung S203H ata drives with the latest firmware. Both drives have the same problem so I assume it is a software problem or Windows? I do not think img burn is the cause since Nero also reads the discs as DVD+RW. I attached the log file untill ImgBurn came up with the question: this disc needs to be formatted before you can write to it. When I agree I end up with a coaster since it is a +R and not a +RW. I tried to find an answer in this forum but was unable to find any. Can anyone help me?? If discs using decent MID's (i.e. Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden) are reported as DVD+RW too, try the drive in aonther PC and perhaps invest in a new drive. Thank you UK, I was wondering how the proces of reporting went. I have two drives of the same brand 6 months old and both give the same problem. It's possible the Samsung drives are not very good with the brand of disc I use. I will go out to buy the better discs as you suggest. Thanks.
