Squadalaah Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Hi everyone, I'm a long time user of imgburn, and just started having issues with my dual layers since upgrading to 2.5.0.0, and I'm new to this forum too. Hopefully someone out there can help me out. I always start by making an .iso file using a different program, and then use imgburn to write it to the disc. Lately imgburn has been getting to random percentages never exceeding 20%, then just freezing. The write rate drops to 0, the time to completion goes to unknown, and the program will keep running until I abort it myself. What follows is the log of an instance that I've now had running for over 9 hours, and has been frozen at 6% for the last 8 hours and 50 minutes or so. I haven't changed my drive or my discs recently, so I'm not at all sure what the problem is. I 23:05:12 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Does it actually abort nicely when you click the abort/cancel/close button? Are you sure you've always been using discs based on the 'RITEK-S04-66' dye/MID ? Have you tried cleaning your drive? Do normal SL discs still burn ok?
Squadalaah Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Does it actually abort nicely when you click the abort/cancel/close button? Are you sure you've always been using discs based on the 'RITEK-S04-66' dye/MID ? Have you tried cleaning your drive? Do normal SL discs still burn ok? - It does not abort nicely, no. Last time I tried to abort I had to restart my computer. - Yeah, I've gone through three 50-disc spindles of the same brand of discs, occasionally getting errors from bad discs, yes, but never any freezing. - I haven't tried cleaning my drive, but the drive is only a few months old; I just got my drive replaced earlier this year, so it shouldn't need cleaning, right? - Yes, no issues with single layer DVDs or with music CDs, only dual layer is giving me problems. Hope this info helps!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 OK, I'm glad it didn't abort nicely, I wouldn't have expect it to. Either your drive or the drivers have got stuck - so ImgBurn isn't in control and therefore cannot exit nicely... it's just sits waiting patiently for the drive/drivers to finish processing the command. Notice that I made no reference to the brand of your discs, I specifically referred to the dye/MID being used. The same 'brand' can use multiple dyes/MIDs. Some will work better than others. Do you have another PC you could try that drive in? Or another drive you could try in your PC? Are you able to boot into a Linux Live CD (Ubuntu perhaps?) and test burning (still using ImgBurn, via 'Wine') within that OS?
Malky Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Are you able to boot into a Linux Live CD (Ubuntu perhaps?) and test burning (still using ImgBurn, via 'Wine') within that OS? By the way, I have another problem exactly in wine. I wrote it here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=13098&st=0&p=109954&hl=wine&fromsearch=1entry109954 and on the wine's forum, but nobody can help me. LIGHTNING UK!, can you give me any advice? And can anybody make Imgburn to change Booktype using SPTI in wine?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Don't hijack this thread please Malky, I've already deleted your post once before.
