So I got a new Wii and I am trying to burn Wii games. Yesterday I burned a bunch of Wii games (about 30 normal 4.7 disk images) and they all burned and work great. Today I am trying to tackle burning some dual layer games. I've tried Super smash bros, new super mario and metroid today. So far I've got about US$40 worth of coasters, so I stopped and am posting here for some help :). It all seems to go well till about 46% which is apparently when the next layer is being burnt.

I've got a fast quad core CPU running Windows 7 x64. My drive is a Samsung SH-s203n, updated to SB02 firmware. I am technically inclined but don't burn much (I am a hard drive freak) and have never burned a DL disc before. As such I did my homework today on what are the things I need to do before burning:

So as far as the DL burning checklist:

1) Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x - check

2) Newest firmware - check

3) Optical disk cleaner - check

4) Drive plugged into sata port which is set in bios for ide - check

This is the last log:

I 18:32:20 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: CMC MAG-D01-00) (Speeds: 2.4x)

That doesn't look like Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks :detective:

I don't live in the US, so model numbers might not mean anything. Here is a phonecam pic of the DVDs.

Edit: Hmm, can't attach it. Photobucket to the rescue:

Edit2: That's a little big, smaller:

BTW, the store confirmed to me that these disks are not only made in Singapore but physically from Singapore itself.

Does the packaging have anything written on it? Can you get a picture of that too please if it does.

I am sorry, we don't buy blank media by the box here. Its by the piece. If it helps, these were PHP120 per piece, about US$3. The 25 piece spindles I am using cost me PHP15 each and one label says BenQ and the other says HP :). The store I got it from is very reliable though, they have been in business for a long time with close to a 100 branches all over the city and their name is actually CDR King ;). They started way back as a few small kiosks in malls selling only blank media and empty media cases . Verbatims (all types) are more expensive than other brands because, they say, it comes from Singapore.

Are you saying its not a verbatim? That its been faked? What evidence can you give me, something good enough to take to the police? That is serious enough that I am going to make a bunch of hush money off of this!! :) CDr king faking disks. They will pay me a lot to keep quiet. Please give me evidence to use.

I've brunt 4 more coasters but got a successful burn of one disk now. Guess I should stop burning, as these disks are worth their weight in gold as evidence. Please post back as soon as possible!

Read post # 2 again. You do not have Verbatim DataLifePlus discs, you probably bought their 'value line' or 'budget line' media, or they pawned it off on you as the good stuff. I don't know CDr King or how they do business, but I would suggest buying off of the net and avoiding anyone who sells you media one piece at a time from open packaging...ever heard of the saying...buyer beware?
