DVD-RWs will not erase after use

I have had a lot of problems burning to 2 different kinds of DVD-RWs. First, Staples brand discs, and then, thinking it was a brand problem, have recently tried to use Memorex. What happens is I'll have a successful burn, verify the burn, then after using the disc, I will attempt to erase the disc to use it for something else, and it will get stuck on erasing the disc. It will just sit there at 0% disc erased indefinitely. I have let it sit and sit there and I have to close IMGBURN with task manager and since I'm on a laptop I can't get the disc to stop spinning and get it out of the drive unless I restart my computer. With this last burn with a Memorex disc, the burn was successful, but when I attempted to verify I got errors, however when I used the media there were no problems, but then when I went to erase it, it just got stuck again at the 0% erase step, and now I'm thinking another disc that will be made useless, what can be done to stop shredding discs? Here's a log from what I think is the unsuccessful verify:

Is there anything else I can do? The problems have gotten worse, I can't even get a successful burn with a new Memorex disc now, twice with two different discs IMGBURN freezes at 25% burned, how could it freeze at the exact same point with 2 different discs? It locked up my whole system both times, and the second time I got a blue screen before my computer restarted, something seems very wrong, will using a different brand of disc really solve everything?

Those Staples brand discs may not be highly thought of, but I reused those same 5 discs like at least 10-20+ times each before I had trouble erasing them or burning to them, I thought Memorex was even higher quality but I'm getting even worse results. Awhile back I was having trouble playing a disc I bought that had 4 movies on one side of the disc, my drive refused to play it, and I did some research on the problem and I deleted the upper and lower filters in the drive's registry, or I think I only have one of those filters listed, and I deleted the one I had listed before I read that if you only have an upper or lower listed not to delete it, could that be causing drive problems? Would uninstalling and reinstalling the drive possibly help?
