srcstcbstrd Posted January 26, 2010 Share Posted January 26, 2010 Hi - me again. I've got myself quite a few new downloads of 5.1 surround releases that I want to transfer to disc to listen to. Most are coming out ok since it is a straight cue and copy of some .wav files. A couple have been DVD-A's (image burns)that, after a couple of trial runs, worked out ok. Now I've come across a couple of others which only come out as 'data' discs. Here's a couple of examples of what I mean 1.ATS_01_0.BUP 4KB ATS_01_0.IFO 4KB ATS_01_1.AOB .99GB ATS_01_2.AOB .99GB ATS_01_3.AOB 224MB AUDIO_PP.IFO 128KB AUDIO_SV.BUP 4KB AUDIO_SV.IFO 4KB AUDIO_SV.VOB 902KB AUDIO_TS.BUP 10KB AUDIO_TS.IFO 10KB AUDIO_TS.VOB 1.01MB When I first tried to burn, ImgBurn told me it detected an HDCD file and do I want to change to 'UDF' which of course I allowed since I didn't know better. My DVD players only read this as a data disc. What should my first step be? And, no, I don't have the burn log to include. 2. I tried to burn some 5.1 'Flac' files which ended up as a data disc (and I realized too late that my DVD player wouldn't play that format - or would it?). So I converted the Flacs to WAV and tried again (went through Build - started the burn). Got another data disc. Now I know I'm missing something because when I do a 5.1 WAV that can fit on a CD - everything works fine! Here's an example of what I mean. And because it is a multi disc set, I thought I might get all the folders onto one disc and then try playing the seperate albums using the menu on the DVD player. 01 - 21st Centxxx xxxxxxxx xxx.wav 364.47MB 02 - I Talk xx xxx xxxx.wav 300.48MB 03 - Epitxxx.wav 434.23MB 04 - Mooncxxxx.wav 604.8MB 05 - The Court Of xxx xxxxxxx xxxx.wav 466.51MB The other two albums are smaller and stereo mixes. Can I not mix more than one album on a disc? And what am I missing that they came out as data discs? Thank you in advance, for your patience with not only me, but all us dweebs who are computer illiterate and need to be held by our hands. Oh yeah, I'll start saving my burn logs for future reference. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 26, 2010 Share Posted January 26, 2010 Those Audio DVD files should be in an AUDIO_TS folder. ImgBurn has no special code in it for detecting / creating such discs so it's down to the user to feed it the correct folder structure. If you're burning audio files (flac, wav etc) in Build mode, it'll always come out as a data disc (even if that 'data' is just a bunch of audio files). If your player can handle playing music files form a data disc, play around with the file systems. 'ISO9660 + Joliet' tends to be the best one for that task. If you want an Audio CD (a proper one - which of course can only be written to a CD), follow the guide for making such a disc in the Guides forum. Update - made sure that all my audio files were in a Audio_TS folder - burned a copy and still came out as a data disc and will not play. I tried the ISO9660+Joliet+UDF (it was going to suggest the change anyway so I thought I'd try all 3) and the tag came up "HD DVD Video" which, as before, would change the file system to UDF. The above is just an example and in your case the VIDEO_TS folder is empty. I 21:33:55 Content Type: HD DVD Video Might be on thine ice here, but I think this is just a note in the log and not something to care to much about.
