Toranaga Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I just upgraded my old Pioneer 111D to a S18L (218L) SATA. But when burning images with IMGburn it wont go above 8x and it takes 9m 30s to burn a DVD. If i use the built in image burner in W7 it only takes 5 minutes?!?
Cynthia Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I have the same burner and no such issues here. Can you post a log of one of those burns? Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs

Cynthia Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Normally the highest speed is only reached at the end of the burn on a full disc burn. Your image is a bit small to have to use the whole discs capacity. I suggest you use the Discovery mode and select all sectors and do a burn at max speed.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Which controller is that drive actually attached to? You may have more than one on your motherbaord so you need to find which port is controlled by which chipset.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Using your Discovery mode IBG... For whatever reason, the drive is dropping down a gear when it reaches approx 2GB/15x. If you have a drive that supports it, try doing a PIPO/Disc Quality scan of that disc using DVDInfoPro/CDSpeed/Opti Drive Control.
Toranaga Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 I installed DVDinfopro and tried to run a scan, but it only spins up and then stops? Isn't there suposed to be some graphs or something?
Cynthia Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I installed DVDinfopro and tried to run a scan, but it only spins up and then stops? Isn't there suposed to be some graphs or something? I have the same issue with my Pioneer 118. I guess DVDInfoPro rejects to use such a drive as scanner.
Toranaga Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Are there any BIOS/mobo/windows settings I should check?
Cynthia Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Could be worth a try to uninstall this driver + program. I've only seen issues in the verify part - but who knows? W 19:20:11 SPTD can have a detrimental effect on drive performance.
