LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 It looks like you've already tried (and failed) to burn to that disc. As such, you can't trust the responses from the drive. I 05:52:02 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x; 10x) Try burning faster, 1x isn't even a supported speed - so 4x would have been used regardless. Try again at 8x or something. Whilst Pioneers were great in the past, the latest 118/218 models are basically just rebranded LiteOn's (with a very immature firmware). It's about time you installed XP SP3.

Cynthia Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 The only speed that worked with that media code on my Pioneer was the 4x. The rest just gave verify errors.

m4hater Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 The problem with this burner is just that it is so crappy that not even quality discs works. should i buy another burner?
Cynthia Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 It could came a firmware update that solves the problems. But it has been months since the latest one and I frankly doubt it will be here in a short time. Your issue could also come from that your SATA connector on the mother board doesn't like optical drives. My Asus suffers from that. Another possibility could be that you need to update the chipset drivers. But it's not a good burner for DL media. So I would get a new nice one. The Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S series is nice.

Cynthia Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 If you get burning issues with quality media on single layer media also, that could indicate it. Single media burns ok with this burner, it's DL media that is the problem.

Sony Optiarc AD-7240S - Laufwerk - DVD+/-RW (+/-R DL) / DVD-RAM - 24x24x12x - S-ATA - intern - 13,3 cm (5,25) this one is good for DL burning? Edited February 6, 2010 by m4hater

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 What's in your filter drivers list? (copy + paste it via the feature in the 'Tools' menu) You don't normally get that specific error as the first error, it normally comes after something like a 'Write Error' - which of course you aren't getting.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 ok, nothing in there, I'm out of ideas.
m4hater Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 ok, nothing in there, I'm out of ideas. maybe i should install windows xp new, cause if i use imgburn i become bluescreens not always but often
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Yeah good idea. BSOD's are down to driver issues - and as ImgBurn doesn't have any, it must be something more generic on your system that's causing it.
