After 'fooling around' in ImgBurn, trying to change book type settings, none of my burning programs recognise my DVD+-RW device anymore.

Restarting ImgBurn shows:

I 21:09:12 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started!

I 21:09:12 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6002 : Service Pack 2)

I 21:09:12 Total Physical Memory: 3.139.564 KB - Available: 993.412 KB

Where reason means: The system can't find the provided file.

I've also the long version (after F8: post-32635-126643931264.png)

My Computer, so Windows Explorer, however still shows my device (Devices.bmp)

I've tried to update drivers, that doesn't work.

I've restored Windows from the previous restore point.

Then it works ones, but once I've shtu down the laptop the same error occurs.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

(I promise not to fool with book type settings again :-)

What I'd do here is basically the DMA fix from the FAQ.

i.e. uninstall the controllers from device manager and reboot so it finds the controllers -> channels -> drives again.

Can you also please post your filter drivers list. Use the feature in the Tools menu.

If that doesn't work, add the environment variable 'DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES' with the value '1' and then open device manager (from scratch) again.

Make it show you hidden device via the View menu and clear out any 'ghosted' (blended images) items from 'DVD/CD-ROM drives', 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controller' and anywhere else that shows stuff that's clearly not connected to the pc now.

When you've done all that (post a screenshot of device manager if you like), get back to us.

Oh but just before you do, load the program, press F8 and then go into tools and tell it to search for devices again.

Now save the contents of the Log window to a file (via the File menu -> Save As) and attach the file in your reply.

Ta :)

Thanks! Removing the device and auto-detect worked (how simple...)
