After reading that Verbatim was one brand with less problems than others, I purchased a 10 pack of these, "Verbatim DVD-R with VideoGard Protection" but cannot get a clean burn. I am able to burn on Fujifilm +RW though. It would be nice if there's a setting I can change in order to use all these Verbatim DVDs though..... here is the log:

Your HP firmware dates back to 22/10/2004.

You'd probably benefit from updating it with the much newer 'real' liteon firmware, dated 22/03/2006

You may however need to perform a degree of 'crossflashing' to update it. The people over at cdfreaks will help you with that. Just look in their LiteOn forum.

THANKS.....

I already tried that, and I get the following error msg, which doesn't make sense to me:

No Match Drive Detected !

This utility is only for LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S drive.

Drive Detected:

3-0-0-0-0 E:LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S VDPE

is this where the "crossflashing" you were referring to comes in? ??? I'll go poke around on that forum.....
