First of all, let me say hello. I've been using Imgburn for quite some time and it is by far my favorite burning software, I recommend it to everyone.

My problem is not related directly to the program, but I was hoping to pitch it to the gurus here to come up with a solution.

Staples DVD-R (i know, i know. it's what the secretaries buy at my office)

I have an AVI that i've converted to VOB. the VOB files play just fine on the PC. the problem is that when I burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to disc, i get weird stuttering. When the screen is black (like in a fade in/out) the audio and video stutter. ONLY when the screen goes black/blank. I have burned at 2x, tried several copies in 3 different players (2 PC one actual DVD player) and get the same results every time. Let me reiterate that playing back the VOB files straight from the hard drive does not have any problems like this. Is there some setting I need to change in imgburn to prevent this? Or, is it somehow related to the media or the authoring of the VOB files? Let me know, i'm tired of chunking DVDs in the trash, even if they are just Staple discs.

Sounds like a media issue to me - or at least the drive/firmware you're using to burn it isn't doing a very good job.

Try each of the 'supported' write speeds, some might produce a better quality burn.

Update the firmware on the drive.

Failing that you can try cleaning the drive.

If it still doesn't work, buy a new drive or get better discs.

i'm going to try another burner that we have available, and poke around for some other DVDs. I've never felt that it was imgburn but was curious if anyone else had seen something like this before.

Thanks for a great program and swift response. I'll let you know if i get better results.
