harleybob
I am new to imgbrn. I am using to backup photo files. Data only, no movies, music or playable DVD. Why is Imgburn giving my files new, abbreviated and renumbered filenames? I can't have that as I need the original file name only. Is there a setting I need to change? I am doing ISO burns. My file names are long, but not too long. I was using an "_" in some file names, but also tested with no odd characters and I still got the abbreviated name change. For example: file name "Alvarado001" is changed to Alvar1" Please help me with this. Otherwise my burns have been fine. Harley
LIGHTNING UK!
You must be just using the ISO9660 file system and that's limited (by default anyway) to 8.3 characters (i.e. xxxxxxxx.yyy) and only the characters 'A..Z', '0..9' and '_'. Use Joliet or UDF too and you'll be ok.

mmalves
Joliet and UDF standards are old enough to be supported by pretty much any OS or device you're using.
