Problem Making a windows 7 boot disc

I followed the setup guide to the letter but when I go to burn the disc, it gets to 6% and just stops writing. The log doesn't mention any sort of error. What'd I do wrong haha

I just got an i/o error as well after 20 retries.

Do you have any other discs you could test with? Something NOT using the RITEKF1 dye.

 

Even a DVD+RW or DVD-RW would do.

 

Have you tried the various supported write speeds?

 

Maybe cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc would help?

 

EDIT: Ah ok, so you got a Write error that time. That's better than it just stopping dead and saying nothing :)

 

RITEKF1 isn't a great MID/dye and laptop drives are fussy at the best of times.

 

You might end up having to buy some decent media to test with (Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden).

 

The other option is to buy a decent full size external burner.

Even though you're using a desktop, the burner you have is a slim model, slot load type and slim burners in general are rubbish. If you use high quality media with them then it should work fine.
